1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Dead on arrival. Windows error messages, contant erratic drive activity. Wasted time installing, uninstalling, running to UPS, and wasted $$ on return shipping.

Other Thoughts: No more refurb drives for me.

3 out of 5 eggsIt works, I guess that's enough

Pros: It took 3 attempts, but I was finally able to install WHS 2011 to this HDD and it has had no stabiliy problems. It does the job.

Cons: Runs about 8 degrees hotter than the 2TB storage drives that are in the NAS with it and about 11 degrees hotter than the 2TB WD Green that is being used as a parity drive. It also feels slow. I can't explain it, but it's just sluggish. It benches fine at a consistent 70MB/s so maybe it's just the 8MB cache.

Other Thoughts: If I had to live with it as the OS drive in my nornal PC I would go crazy. For $35 it works great as the OS drive in my NAS. The NAS hasn't hiccupped in the slightet since it was installed so it seems fine. If I were to do it again, I would think about something different but would probavly do it again.

1 out of 5 eggsAtleast some were lucky

Pros: Hard drive crashed today and it's after the warranty which is 30 days. Now I have a frisbee that doesn't fly well...

Cons: Stuck with garbage. Do not buy seagate products, I always have terrible luck with them, regardless of it being a refurb.

Other Thoughts: Which I could atleast get an exchange but nope!

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg and Seagate hard drives suck

Pros: I have nothing good to say about Newegg and Seagate hard drives.

Cons: This is the second hard drive I have received from Newegg. The first drive made clicking sounds and when I investigated the situation, I was told by many that clicking sounds means a hard drive is on its way to failure. So I returned the hard drive hoping I would get a legitimate "refurbished" hard drive. Unfortunately Newegg fails to check their refurbished products before sending them out to customers who have to do their work for them. The second refurbished hard drive will not format, so I am left with a paper weight.
My recommendations to those interested is not buy any refurbished products from Newegg. Hopefully when I get an RMA for the second drive, my cutup Newegg credit card wil be sent back with the hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Seagate hard drives are worth less than you will pay for them. I've now purchased 4 seagate hard drives, 2 were unuseable, and yet another from a different online merchant is now making that clicking sound which will lead to an early death of the drive. Unfortunately it is about one year old and has lasted long enough that it can't be returned.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: Was Dead on Arrival, wouldn't partition or install windows. I even tried to format it through command prompt; no dice. This drive is rubbish.

Other Thoughts: Sending it back and not exchanging it. I won't get a refurbished HDD ever again. I'm getting a refund.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA Returning for Replacement

Pros: None

Cons: It came dead.

Other Thoughts: This HDD came dead. I am returning it for a replacement of the same drive, so I'll either write another review or edit this one.

I at first though the beeping noise was coming from my motherboard since it would not even POST. However, after attempting to boot into a Linux USB I discovered the HDD was the problem. Even when it was powered only it would just beep loudly and repeatedly.

Something to note. The HDD I received has a nice sized bend in the bottom portion of the case. No paint is chipped so it looks like it left the manufacturer that way. The bend causes a portion of the case to stick 'out', which is not so good when you need to fit it in tighter places. I'm also a bit nervous about the replacement that will be coming.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA - No Manufacturer Warranty

Pros: Waiting for replacement from New Egg will update when replaced. New Egg crossshipped replacement with return shipping label. No cost to me.

Cons: Drive was bad on initial install. Manufacturer said they don't honor warranty.
