5 out of 5 eggsSeagate

Pros: So far so good purchased eight of these drives for my Norco RPC-4224 Raid encloser no DoA's i have then currently raided in raid 60 they are pretty quick i preformed a HD Tune Sequential read Benchmark on both a 256GB crucial M4 (299.2-280.5MB/s) and the Raid Array (383.7-550.8MB/s)

Quite Happy so far.

I am usually a Western Digital guy but Seagate got some +rep with these drives.

Cons: Expensive! but honestly Completely worth the Money and a little cheaper than their western digital brothers.

1 out of 5 eggsOrdered 4 / Received 4 DOAs

Pros: ?

Cons: DOA

Other Thoughts: I ordered 4 of these for a Synology 412+ disk station (on the Synology compatibility list). All 4 of them were DOA. I also tried in a Cisco server to make sure.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SAS Drive

Pros: So far has been a great SAS drive and I'm purchasing more. Great price for 2TB. Just wish reliable SAS controllers weren't so expensive.

Do not pay attention to the bad reviews on this drive. The people reviewing don't understand that a SAS is not SATA and that's why the connector is different.

Cons: Haven't had any Cons yet. (Knock on wood.)

Other Thoughts: Other than people not understanding what SAS is and making bad reviews, these have been reliable drives and have not had any issues connecting them to server SAS backplanes.

Just so you know, SAS is normally backwards compatible with SATA, but SATA is not compatible with SAS. The different connector on SAS drives is supposed to be that way to not confuse the two different drives. I also wish it wasn't like this, but that's how it is and makes sense once you research it.

5 out of 5 eggsEnterprise SAS

Pros: This is a great drive. We purchased 20 to build a Nexenta SAN and the performance is excellent for 7200 rpm. We did have 1 DOA but newegg replaced it right away and we were up an rolling.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsThese are SAS drives, not sata

Pros: These are great SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) drives. They have SAS connectors on them, not sata. Trying to wire them up to a sata cable connector will not work. Wiring them to a SAS cable connector will. You will need a SAS controller for these drives. LSI / 3ware makes some great universal controllers that can be connected to either a SAS or SATA drive. Also, some server motherboards (like Tyan or ASUS) have both SAS and SATA controllers / connections onboard.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Most hot-swap backplanes are universal, and can take either a SAS or SATA drive. So if you buy these you'll either need a SAS cable or SAS/SATA hot-swap drive bay/enclosure. I'm currently using these in a Chenbro RM31616ML chassis (16 hot swap SAS/SATA drive bays).

2 out of 5 eggsI agree with the first review

Pros: I am sure its a good drive if you can find the right connector for it.

Cons: As mentioned in the other review, BEWARE. This drive seems to come with a proprietary connector (see the images listed with the item). The power and SATA connectors are bridged together with plastic. This will not fit standard SATA / SAS connectors. Not sure what this drive was for but it seems to have a proprietary use maybe in a specific manufacturers devices. I think it should be mentioned prominently somewhere in the device description (I didn't see it). Now I must return 9 of them...

2 out of 5 eggsproblem with connector

Pros: High quality drive

Cons: The sata connector in the rear does not accept standard PC connectors as there is no slot between the power and data sections so that it is not compatible with most standard PC's. BEWARE!
