Cons: I have bought 5-6 hard drives from Seagate. All have been great (if not RMA'd), but this little piece...

1. THERE IS NO POWER BUTTON. You'd think this wouldn't be a bad thing, but it truly sucks. You often have to wait for the thing to power down or the computer to finish shutting down for you to unplug it.

2. It slows down all of my computers. I just built a pretty sick computer with an i7 processor, 64bit system, 16GB RAM... etc, and this thing slows it down *significantly*. Why? I have no idea. But it does it on all three of my computers.

3. 10 DAYS AFTER WARRANTY IT FAILED. Planned obsolescence much?

Other Thoughts: I have data for a large research study on this hard drive. While I have it backed up elsewhere, I've still lost a decent chunk of my stuff. Given that the amount of headache caused by this scenario will forever be burned in my memory, if Seagate does not help me recover this data for free, as it is only 10 days past warranty, and replace this external, I will never buy from them again. You have lost a repeat customer.

Pros: Price.
Speed.
Can be used as internal drive without taking it out of the actual plastic case.

Cons: Makes a weird noise every now and then.

Other Thoughts: Recently my 2TB internal drive decided to die, I bought this drive as a back up drive, but since my 2TB drive thought I'd try it out as an internal drive(since it detaches from the mount thing easily. It is much faster than my other one as an internal drive and was impressed. Makes a weird noise since I put it in my comp but seems to be working fine.

Pros: got it for cheap, convenient, lots of storage for my laptop

Cons: Pulled it off the desk by the USB cord, drive dropped about 18 inches off a night stand onto a thick rug (so the drive makes a light impact onto the carpet). Drive starts servo beeps of death and won't be recognized by the computer.

Other Thoughts: Warranty coves up to 350gs of impact. Can any physics people tell me if a bump on the carpet equals 350 gs? I'd like to say it's not even close. Maybe it was static shock, but it was in the plastic case, which SHOULD protect against static. I would expect an external drive to be at least SLIGHTLY more rugged than this piece of junk. So much for all the data I backed up over the past year since I bought it.

Pros: served me well

Cons: Doesn't like to be dropped. RIP hdd

Cons: The Drive started beeping about a week in but thought nothing of it since it worked great. Then the clicking started but again worked great. left for two days came back my computer would not recognize the drive. Restarted the computer and got the computer to recognize the drive and it says that my stuff is their and of my folders are their, but when you open a folder they are empty

Other Thoughts: this the last time I buy something without at least 100 feedbacks.
also this is my first Seagate drive so I have no idea if this is SOP for them or not

Pros: Good $/GB. Possible to configure as an internal drive.

Other Thoughts: Really happy with this drive. Has done all I asked of it and no trouble to install. My tv reads this drive as well for huge library hooked up to the big screen.

Pros: Excellent external drive. Removable mount allows easy access to spare internal sata drives.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is great for storage, but USB 2.0 is not fast. I use this drive as a backup for uncompressed film scanner frames.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: It failed on me and i lost all my data. That will be the last Seagate I buy. Western Digital you got my buisness.

Pros: Purchased this for $99 on newegg. Product arrived quickly as always and in new condition. Easy to install and use as it should be. Transfer time is fair-quick. Have not had any software or transfer issues to date. Have completed many many transfers to and from the external.

Great deal for the price I purchased it for.

Cons: None found

Other Thoughts: Buy it!

Pros: Quiet, transfers files quickly, nice exterior

Cons: My only issue is that it's supposed to stand upright, making it prone to falling over if you tip it a little or if a cat gets around it. Just be a little careful where you put it.
