1 out of 5 eggsDied After A WEEK!

Pros: - none

Cons: - 2nd seagate drive within a month that stopped working, I started getting seagate after their success with the backup plus external drives, but these barracudas are junk. 2 in a row in less then a week, and they weren't even given a load, simply formatted and used as a backups.

Other Thoughts: I will make sure to return to WD for my internal HDD's. These will be returned asap!

1 out of 5 eggsComplete failure after 35 days

Pros: fast, big

Cons: Complete failure after 35 days. I'm not happy but what can you do. It's still running quiet so I'm not sure what kind of problem there is. I tested it a number of times using Seagate and WD utilities without any problems. Also ran linux tests without any issues coming up.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Performance and Value

Pros: Fast, Quiet, Run Cool

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have two of these drives running a 589GB RAID 0 and 2.5TB RAID 1 (IRST 11.6) using SATA 3Gb/s ports on a GA-Z77X-UD4H motherboard.

CrystalDiskMark Results:
RAID 0 Seq Read 343.8 MB/s
RAID 0 Seq Write 340.1 MB/s

RAID 1 Seq Read 194.6 MB/s
RAID 1 Seq Write 195.0 MB/s

I've been using Seagate hard drives for over a decade. Never had a problem with them. Very pleased with these hard drives. Highly recommend.

4 out of 5 eggsPurchase a 2TB instead.

Pros: Disk Wizard included in the Retail-Kit makes cloneing an existing drive very easy. Worked ok, but I had forgotten about the 2TB limit.

Cons: Had to format at reduced 2TB due to the Bios limit on a 3 year old P75 motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Seagate's retail-kits gets you not only the mounting hardware, but Disk-Wizard to clone an existing disk, and Disk-Tools to check out you drives.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job without problems

Pros: Not much to write. I bought it as a storage drive not intended to for any performance. But it will copy at 130MB/sec

Cons: none works good. Better survival rate than many of the drives from Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsThis HDD Rocks

Pros: Quiet, fast operation. Great dollar value. Reliability appears excellent. Quality product.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wanted a drive with a lot of storage space for a great price. This drive fulfills that need. These drives are so quiet when running and more importantly during operation. The search time is super fast. These are a great product at a great price. I liked the first one that I bought so much that I purchased another.

5 out of 5 eggsI own 4 of these

Pros: 6Gb/s, backed by the Seagate warranty.

For those of you that don't know, Seagate has an awesome warranty process. I had an older 1.5 TB drive start to click last week, I didn't need a receipt or anything, just the numbers off the drive, and they are sending me a new one. With, me having to pay just 10 dollars for shipping, no questions asked. After that, I will never go with another drive company.

Thanks Seagate, you're awesome!!!

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive!

Pros: It works! I swapped out my older 1TB for this new 4TB HDD on my home server which is on 24/7 and so far no issues has occured. Holds my stuff, doesn't make any notice loud sounds (unlike my other PC's HDD). I'm not biased on any particular brand, but i've haven't had any problems with Seagate in the past, and would keep buying them (especially when the price is right!). It's been a good Hard Drive these past few months and i foresee it continuing to meet my expectations.

Cons: None. Works great!

1 out of 5 eggsFigures. More bad drives from Seagate

Pros: N/A

Cons: This drive died within about a month of use. Wrote about 5 GBs of data to it then boom. Dead.

Other Thoughts: Personal anecdote here but, don't buy this drive.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice drive

Pros: Low Heat, good speed, cost

Cons: Eh

Other Thoughts: I have an older system so I have to use the software that comes with the drive (actually it ends up getting downloaded)

The software for this drive and I assume other large seagate drives has to create more than drive letter, so that one drive letter ends up being a binary 2TB and the other virtual drive ends up being about 750GB. It isn't the best solution if you want one large drive and don't have new hardware. However, I have the HGST Hitachi (or whatever company it is now) drive, which does partition out to one large 3TB drive, but when I am actually copying or writing data to it, my system wants to make that the only process that gets any attention and I can't do anything else with the computer when moving files.

The seagate driver does NOT have that problem, so I can move files around and do other things at the same time with no problems. So the driver, even though it causes two drive letters to be created, works very well when the drives are in use, so very happy with that.

Also the HGST drives seem like heat radiators, and this seagate drive is pretty cool, even cooler than some 2TB drives I have.
