5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING!!!

Pros: Installed in my brothers 2006 MacBook and reinstalled Mac OS X and it is blazing fast! From hitting the power button, to the loaded desktop was 16 seconds. If you want a Hard Drive for your laptop, THIS is the hard drive to get!

Cons: I wish the SSD was a bit larger, but some is better than none.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop drive

Pros: Fast boot up, lots of space, 7200 RPM

Cons: not an SSD

Other Thoughts: If you are like me on a laptop that runs VMs and so forth, you need space but still want the machine to be fairly peppy. The only drawback is that you can't pin items into the cache :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade

Pros: speed & storage

Cons: it's seagate

Other Thoughts: I bought a new $250 Toshiba Laptop when then upgraded the memory & hard drive and was astonished at the increase in speed of boot and response. I haven't had the best luck with Seagate drives, but this one has been going strong since Oct 2012. I am recommend this drive fro sure.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Internal Drive

Pros: 8 GB Solid State cache speeds up boots and loads of commonly used programs
More space than any true solid state on the market, unless you want to spend more than I paid for my computer, even after my upgrades.
32 MB cache beats my old 16 MB, same RPM
OS independent: VERY important for my setup with multi-booting 4 operating systems
Seagate quality, as expected, is great

Cons: In order for a file to be cached in the solid state, it must be used "frequently"
Not a true solid state drive
Uses more power than my old drive (~0.7 amp vs ~0.4 amp)
Generates more heat than my old drive, normal use sits at 46-48 Celsius

Other Thoughts: I rarely use my laptop on battery, so the power draw is not a huge concern to me.
I partitioned this drive with 3 primary partitions and an extended with 4 logical partitions holding my Linux distros.
It's worth noting I have several Seagate drives, and the only one that has failed on me was in an external enclosure and had a head crash after being dropped while booting off of it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Drive/Thoroughly Tested

Pros: Fast boot, reliable, accesses common files quickly, and saves important files from two OS'es (dual boot Arch and Windows).

Cons: Doesn't write files as fast as SSD. Still basically a HDD for transfers.

Other Thoughts: Bought this from local retailer because I was concerned that with Seagate's track record that I could get a DOA drive. I got this and a 2.5" to 3.5" mount and put it in my Alienware Aurora R3 to test it. It runs 2-3 degree celcius cooler than my other two 3.5" HDDs, but it also boots as fast, if not faster, than the SSD boots videos on youtube. It does require concurrent runs to achieve these speeds, but unless you're going for a runtime record in Linux you'll reboot enough to appreciate the speed. I've also had to cut power a few times to the tower because of a Windows lock (caused by ESET background scanner) and each time this drive has come up without failure or bad blocks and still starts up as fast as the boot before the failure. It is an excellent drive and anyone splitting hairs over a 1-3 seconds on boot-up is worried more about bragging rights than space or useability. I also run portable apps instead of full blown apps and the ones I use most open almost instantly. If you're worried about DOA and return time go to a brick and mortar store, but definitely give this drive a chance. You won't regret the performance increase and space that you'll pay a LOT more for with SSD. Also, the people that tell you to get SSD drives instead get small SSD's 60-120GB drives and only install Windows on it and they install everything else to a regular HDD. They are in essence using a hybrid drive because pure SSD builds are incredibly expensive.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good

Pros: Very good, I upgraded from 5400 to 7200 rpm and I am very pleased with the performance. Use graphics programs and could assess their performance. Good choice.

Cons: None

2 out of 5 eggsDissapointed.

Pros: It's bigger than what I had before. Once information is buffered, it runs decently.

Cons: This hybrid technology is totally bogus. I have used this drive for DJing with Ableton Live and video editing with Adobe Premiere and Vegas.
This is the problem: buffering. Sure, you've got this SSD section to work from, but putting the information on that portion of the drive apparently takes FOREVER. To the point where it can crash Adobe and Vegas. My Ableton DJ sets may run smooth once loaded, but the buffering takes probably twice as long now.
I get the feeling that hybrid drives are not a viable technology. You either need to just buy separate drives and move your files around manually or wait until SSDs are big enough.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Upgrade for PS3

Pros: + Increased storage Capacity and speed vs. Stock HDDs
+ Seems more stable vs Toshiba HDD (OEM ps3 HDD)
+ Quiet compared to original HDD!
+ Doesn't get any hotter than the OEM drive so far at full load..
+ works out of the box (ps3 can format the drive)!
+ Great solution for PS+ Membership...

Cons: None so far... I'll update this review regularly.

Other Thoughts: - not 1tb/+
- not full SSD, but fast still.
- .... Pretty sure there'd be more performance increases if used in pc... But works great. Just get it, upgrade your ps3 and don't look back! (unless you can afford a 1tb SSD HDD..)
