Toshiba America Information Systems MK1637GSX 160GB 2.5" notebook hard drive with a 5400RPM motor that gives it up to a 12% performance boost over 4200RPM drives. The SATAII interface and 8MB cache provide an autobahn-like pathway between your notebook and your data.

This drive's capacity makes it eminently suitable for portable audio and video editing or recording. It is also a great drive for notebooks, tablet PCs, printers, copiers and external storage devices.

PS3 Upgrade

Pros: I have 140GB of usable space now! Works great and this drive seems to be a little "snappier". (300mbs -vs 150mbs from the 120GB drive). Installation is a NO BRAINER!
Open the side door, remove one small philips screw, pull handle, slide drive to the right and pull out. Remove caddy (4 screws). Reverse process to install the new drive. When you boot the PS3 it will ask to format for you. DONE!

Cons: None, I was expecting perhaps a little more heat or noise but this is not the case.

Other Thoughts: It costs more than the 120GB version (MK1234GSX) but it has twice the rated throughput and seems faster then the stock drive. (In this case mine was a 60GB)

Pros: easy installation, sony almost begs you to upgrade there hard drive in the manual.

Cons: none yet, not sure as to the issue of potential heat build up.

Other Thoughts: wish i had gotten the 200gb...while upgrading, why stop? i should have looked a little longer at the selection available and gone for the kill

Works Great in my Macbook

Pros: Bought this drive to replace the 80GB that came in my Macbook, and it has been working great. I now have enough space to triple boot OS X, Linux, and Vista and not have to worry (too much) about having enough space.

Cons: There really hasn't been anything negative come up... I wish it was 200GB?

Pros: Quiet, works, seems to be the sweet spot for $/GB for laptop HDD.

Cons: Shipped from NJ instead of the usual CA warehouse, so took an extra day to get to me in AZ! Still, shipping was still pretty fast but I have been spoiled...

Other Thoughts: Replaced the original HDD in my wife's laptop after a nasty fall. Was planning to buy a smaller capacity drive, but decided to spend a few more bucks for way more GB's. I could not believe the range in $/GB for laptop HDD's compared to desktop...

Pros: I put it together with this other Newegg product

and it worked like a charm. don't forget to to format it through windows though otherwise it will not register as a drive.

Cons: I had some problems trying to initially get it into windows. Windows orignally loaded the device but never put it as a drive. I had to format the drive and then addign it adrive letter through disk management.

Other Thoughts: Good price/product ratio for this drive. Evidently works well as a PS3 harddrive upgrade as well as an external portable harddrive.
