Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS), Storage Device Division introduces the MK2552GSX 2.5-inch 250GB Hard Disk Drive. The MK2552GSX offers the industry's highest areal density per platter, at 251.6 giga bits per square inch. The drive's 5400 RPM motor speed, improves system-level performance by as much as 12 percent when compared to 4200 RPM. This new drive offers enough capacity for portable video recording and editing, with lower power consumption compared to the traditional 3.5-inch HDDs. This functionality provides ideal storage for a range of commercial and consumer notebooks, as well as non-PC applications such as PDAs, printers, copiers, GPS systems and MP3 players. The MK2552GSX incorporates the Serial ATA (SATA) 2.6 interface, supporting high media transfer rates of up to 801 megabytes per second.

5 out of 5 eggsNifty little drive

Pros: Placed this into a Rosewill RX81U-ES-25A external case and it fit and worked great.

Other Thoughts: These drives are tiny.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Bought this for a dual drive laptop. Once i got this, opened up my laptop, plugged it in and with the usual initialization and reformat, it was up and running. At first file transfers were painfully slow. 500 megabytes for a long 30 minutes? Then i found out the installed antivirus software was scanning every file being copied. Uninstalled the antivirus and files copied much much faster.

Cons: I wish i had more money to buy a bigger drive.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked fine

Pros: I used this as a HD upgrade for my PS3 and it worked well.

Cons: Could be cheaper but that can be said for anything

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HD

Pros: Lots of storage, works with my MacBook.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: To use this on my first generation MacBook, I had to put a jumper on the leftmost two pins (looking from the front).

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome replacement.

Pros: Much better than my old Hitachi drive that failed with bad sectors after 4 months. It's really quiet even when reading, low temperature operation, fast, and reliable.

Cons: You can kinda hear it, but it's much quieter than my old drive, so not really a con.

Other Thoughts: Got this as a warranty replacement from HP. I would gladly buy Toshiba drives in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Value

Pros: Works and even seems to boot faster than my old laptop hard drive. Gives me the extra storage I need at the price point I'm willing/able to pay.

Cons: Seems to get a bit hotter than my old drive at times, but only when under very high use. Most of the time it won't be getting that kind of use, so for me this is almost a non-issue. Those of you who want to do a lot of multimedia editing and rendering on your laptops may want to consider this though.

Other Thoughts: I put it in an HP DV2000 series laptop. So far, I'm happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsRoomy Drive Gets The Job Done

Pros: It Just Works. Yea, I know. That's a Mac catchline. So sue me.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought it to upgrade my Dell Inspiron's hard drive for use with a TV tuner because the 80GB that shipped with it was rather cramped.

5 out of 5 eggsPS3 has much more memory now

Pros: Well, it's 200 more GB of space more than my 40 GB hard drive the PS3 came with! Worked right after a 10 second format the PS3 automatically prompted me to do.

Cons: If it works, I don't see how there can be any cons. Although the memory after the format was 205 GB... some memory was expected to be lost but still I didn't think it would be quite that much.

Other Thoughts: I noticed the drive pulled out of my 40 GB PS3 was a Fujitsu, and not a Sony drive. I just thought that was a bit odd.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive for Great Price

Pros: Great Hard Drive, quiet and cool, works great for PS3.

Cons: You might need to manually format it via PC or PS3 if you are going to use it for the PS3, format it of course for PC.

Other Thoughts: Great Hard Drive to use for those looking to upgrade their PS3s.
