Pros: Worked great right out of the package. Just had to reformat to NTFS. All of 3 min. time. I am using it to play files on my WD Media player. Works great and takes less than 30 sec. to read when plugged into the player. Noiseless and does not get hot even after watching for over an hour straight. Very stylish and the rubber pads make it non slip on most surfaces. Great price and no shipping made this a no brainer. Really nice that it is USB powered as that is a requirement to use with the WD media player.
Cons: Does not power up at the end of my 10 ft. USB 2.0 extension cord through a 4-port USB 2.0 hub. Haven't tried just the cord, so it could be either one causing no power. The cord on the drive could be a little longer.

Solid Drive

Pros: Great drive, solid construction, free shipping, warranty, shock resistent;
Cons: Short USB cord - 2" longer and it would reach my front USB ports and be able to sit flat on desk.
Poor included software.
Other Thoughts: The NTI backup software caused BSOD's. I tried booting three times and finally had to uninstall it. I cleaned all that junk off the drive and formatted to NTFS.

Pros: Small and light. No bulky power adapter. Backup software if you choose to use it. 500gig! WARRANTY!!
Cons: Nothing so far.
Other Thoughts: Initially wanted one of the Iomega drives but the warranty swayed me to this Toshiba drive. I copied a 7 gig virtual machine image in about 4 minutes and imaged a 29gig laptop drive to it in about 12 min so its fast enough.
The drive comes formatted FAT32 but if you plug it in the autorun program asks what type of computers you need to be able to attach it to. The correct selection automatically converts it to NTFS but you have to wait for it.
