1 out of 5 eggsHorrible External

Pros: High space, low price.

Cons: THE CORD
It comes with a connection cord of about 10cm long, rotated in an awkward way, and comes unplugged from the hard drive by slightly moving it. Absolutely horrible! Because it comes unplugged so easily, you eventually can screw up the hard drive and need to reformat it constantly. Eventually, the computer just stops reading the hard drive altogether. Another horrible Toshiba product. Last time I buy from that company again.

2 out of 5 eggsLook somewhere else

Pros: It worked well for a while. The design is attractive.

Cons: After several months of usage, the hard drive connector where the USB cable plugs in became unreliable. Now I have to keep the hard drive at a certain angle for it to work. This is likely due to the rigidity of the USB 3.0 cable, which produces pressure on the connector when the cable bends.

To make matters worse, the USB 3.0 connector is permanently attached to the hard drive, making it impossible to move the drive to another enclosure.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted a year and a half then died

Pros: Small
Powered by usb

Cons: Randomly clicked every once and a while (click of death) over the last year. Finally heard one more click and it no longer worked. Lost a nice 750GB of data that hadn't been backup up for months (my fault there).

It's just sad that you can't just buy a drive for extra space. You always have to buy two or have the equal amount of backup since they will almost always fail.

5 out of 5 eggsHad it almost a year...

Pros: -Attractive design
-Large storage capacity
-Quick to boot and transfer speed

Cons: -Slightly awkward cord

Other Thoughts: The slightly large transfer cord isn't enough of a bother for it to matter. I transferred well over 120 gigs of files from my netbook, which uses USB 2, in less than 30 minutes as soon as I got the device. It's held up fine for almost a year now (I got it 7/23/11 and it's currently 6/26/12), even after a few minor drops.
This product is definitely worth purchasing, even if not done from Newegg. As with anything else of the likes, it obviously won't last if not handled properly, which is honestly what it sounds like happened with a lot of other reviewers. It's a shame that so many people had issues with it...

1 out of 5 eggsEasy to avoid, now that it's gone.

Pros: Fast, Large.

Cons: Unreliable after about 2 months of use. I'm glad I wasn't using this as a backup drive.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Great when it works.

Cons: The connector on these is absolutely horrible. It constantly loses connection when trying to work with it. The cable is very stiff and a hassle to work with. I am very disappointed I purchased 5 of these, and every single one of them barely works after only a few months use. I highly recommend purchasing a different drive.

2 out of 5 eggsSame cable disconnection problems as everyone else

Pros: - Great form factor
- Feels rugged, the edges are a bit rubberized
- Good price, good capacity
- nice short (portable) cable

Cons: If I plug it in and don't touch it it works decently. If I touch or brush up against the cord at all the computer says the HDD was disconnected without ejecting and whatever I was doing breaks.

Last time I tried to use it I got an incredibly slow 2M/sec. I have no idea if it was temporary or what but I'm having a hard time trusting my data with it at this point.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't buy again. I'll take reliability over looks any day.

2 out of 5 eggsGood drive, terrible connector

Pros: Fast, quiet, little to no heat detectable

Cons: As has been said in many previous reviews, the usb connector in the drive is highly unstable. It's purely a design flaw on the part of Toshiba's manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: I've researched the Toshiba support for this drive. Seems to be nonexistent, so I plan to remove the drive and place in a different case. Good luck to anyone with this particular model

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive!

Pros: Looks nice, performs well.

Cons: Cable is kinda short.

Other Thoughts: I see a lot of complaints about the cable not staying in the drive well. I chose to order the drive anyways because I'm competent enough to keep it still while it transfers files. When I received the drive, the first thing I noticed is that this issue has been rectified, at least with the drive I got, to the point that I could swing the drive around by the cable because of how strong the link was.
