Imagine having ready access to all your digital treasures - around your home or around the world, and you'll know what it's like with the Toshiba Canvio® Personal Cloud, one of the easiest and safest way to store, share, and stream your music, pictures, videos, and files. Unlike other Cloud solutions, all your digital content is in a familiar, centralized place, not a remote unknown location. You'll gain peace of mind knowing that your digital assets are always there when you need them. Best of all, there is no recurring subscription or usage fees.

When many hear home network storage and sharing, they think "complicated." Yet, the Canvio Personal Cloud is anything but. Set-up is as simple as "3-clicks". Once it's up and running, you can start uploading your content for sharing and streaming using the simple, intuitive graphical interface.

Away on business. Across town. Visiting relatives in the next state. If you have internet access, you can access your Canvio Personal Cloud remotely to play that slideshow for friends and family, work on your master's thesis, or show off your horseback-riding video. Android™ and iOS apps let your tablets and smart phones join in, too.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: None

Cons: First, this device cannot be used to it's full potential without using Windows. When the software goes through it's initial install it will crash a couple of times, and eventually decide to work. Once installed the Update light starts to blink, so you go to install the new software and firmware. The window says it could take 5-15 minutes to install, but after 20 hours of having the window running an error comes up saying the firmware failed to install. I have tried to install firmware 5 more times with no luck. So now the new software running on device is not compatible with old firmware and nothing works.

Luckily for newegg my wife bought this for me on Black Friday and I am not able to refund or replace it. Now I get to deal with the warranty repair and eventually get the same product again. Save your money, buy something else.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: This was the biggest piece of junk I have ever bought, the software that came with this if that is what you want to call it was the most horrible designed software I have ever seen. After finally getting the software to work at least I think it was working I heard this clunking from the drive and then it was over drive went bad

1 out of 5 eggsPoorly executed

Pros: Interface is fairly neat and clean.

Cons: Cloud aspect does not function.
Slow response.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 other NAS. WD and Seagate for more than 6 months and they were cloud ready with a few clicks of setup. This is Windows only no OSX/Linux support. Really not ready for public use. Not sure if this requires a separate PC for the cloud functionality as nothing is mentioned on Toshiba support. Nothing is mentioned on what ports to forward for the cloud functionality as well.

1 out of 5 eggsEarly prototype

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Incompatible with Mac OSX.

Other Thoughts: They claim "Remote Access - anywhere, anytime" but until they support more OS's than Windows, that's just nonsense.
