4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money, just don't pull on the cords

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: A good drive for the money. Capasity, appearence, and weight and all great.

Cons: The connections don't stay in particularly well. If using a laptop be careful as just a little tug and they come right out. If using it for backups or with a desktop I can't see any cons though.

2 out of 5 eggsRegrettable Purchase

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: Cheap. Did have 1 TB storage as described.

Cons: Repeatedly drops from PC. Asks to be formatted constantly. Detachable cable becomes unplugged easily. Unreliable. Slow transfer speed (20 MBps on USB 3.0 port) Toshiba's answer for warranty is replacement or coupon.

Other Thoughts: I had a Toshiba Satellite 1805 laptop years ago and it was terrible. Decided to give Toshiba a second chance. I should've trusted my gut and bought a Western Digital.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat backup/Time Machine drive

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: Fast, quiet, cool, space, PRICE

Cons: none thus far

Other Thoughts: I'm a Mac user at home. Was using a Hitachi portable 1TB USB 3.0 for Time Machine backups. It crashed (I've also had this happen with their 2.5" installable 1TB drives. Hitachi used to be my go-to. Now it's at the bottom of the list along w/ Seagate (though I know the latter is steadily improving somewhat). This Toshiba has been great thus far and so I'm a happy camper. I'd rec it to anyone.

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: None. Doesn't work

Cons: had two of these, and neither worked, and now apparently, I can't return, replace or get a refund. I hooked this up, formatted it, and when I went to copy data to it, the transfer rate was incredibly slow, and after a short time, the drive made a clicking sound. TWO of these, the original and replacement both had the same issue. Stay away. I'm trying to figure out how I can dump this junk and get a drive that actually works.

Other Thoughts: It stinks that the time I spent waiting to ship this back and receive a new one counts against my window to get a refund for this awful non-working product.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and simple

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: Fast drive. Worked right out of the box as it should.

Cons: General con: I hate the usb to drive connectors everyone is using now, I wish they locked in.

Other Thoughts: If you need a small removable hard drive, just get this.

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: I've used this drive at my PC repair shop for around a year. It has never had a problem. The rubber feet keep it from flying off of the desk and the USB 3.0 head fits solidly. The speeds of large file transfers hit around 60-70MB/s and even on bulk folders of small MP3s, it hits 20-40MB/s on a USB 3.0-capable computer.

Cons: The cord is somewhat short and the usual USB 3.0 thickness, which makes bending it more difficult.

Other Thoughts: It could have come with a nice carrying case but oh well.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Up to Toshiba's Standards

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: It has the Toshiba name on it.

Cons: Sloooow. Copies from the hard drive to this external start 8-12 MB and can slow down even more, sometimes as low as 200kB . It should have a built in alarm to wake me when it finishes.

Other Thoughts: It did last almost 2 weeks. Talk about quality control.

1 out of 5 eggsPrice not as advertised

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: Would like to buy this item if the price were as advertised.

Cons: They keep advertising this item at $59.99 and every time I go to checkout the price is $69.99 or higher. It is really frustrating, besides it is false advertising!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood drive for backups

This review is from: TOSHIBA Canvio Basics 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" Portable Hard Drive HDTB210XK3BA Black

Pros: No problems using Windows 7 for image and monthly backups

Cons: It is no speed demon (but I knew that when I bought a USB connected drive)

Other Thoughts: This drive works great for all my backup needs
