5 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: I needed an affordable drive for a friend's computer repair, and this fit the bill. It's been in service for over a year with no problems.

Cons: Speed...I like 7200RPM drives better.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid Samsung likethe plague!

Pros: 160 GB

Cons: Price!
This drive died a year almost to the day, after purchasing it. What is worse, is that I bought the drive to refurbished a laptop for a friend, as a gift. I look like a joke now, because of Samsung's defective hard drive!!!

Other Thoughts: If you want a hard drive, stick with Seagate or Western Digital. I have deviated from this rule 3 times and got bit every time.

I went Hitachi, and it failed.
I went Toshiba, and that failed, too.
Finally, I went Samsung, and that failed as well.

However, I have yet to have either a Seagate or western digital that I purchased brand new fail on me, yet.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good brand-I have other Samsung drives (deskstop) and have not had any problems. Bought this laptop drive based on that prior experience! This drive did bring new life to an aging Dell Inspiron laptop that had a 40 gig 4200 rpm T@#$#ba hdd installed, and running XP.

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: Paid $79.00 fo it. Should have waited, now that there is a $10.00 "Promo" code with it. Shame on me.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: It worked straight out of the box! I quickly put it in an external enclosure and used Acronis Home 10 to make it a bootable cloned HDD for my laptop. So far no issues and I am very happy!

Cons: Non what-so-ever!

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome drive for a great price

Pros: This it the second one I have bought for laptop upgrades and they work great. I put this one in a Dell Latitude D600 laptop to replace the 40Gig it had in it. After I put this it along with a memory upgrade it really helped out the laptop allot. The laptop was able to be moved from XP to Windows 7 32 bit after I did the few upgrades to it.

Cons: None at this time.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Rejuvenator!

Pros: It works! Passed the Samsung Etool/hutil checks w/out a hiccup. Used Drive Copy to move and re-size partitions from my ancient Vaio laptop drive that was only 20gig. Yes, 20. Now it has room for a few more programs, and plenty for content and a contiguous swap file.

Was packaged very well. The OEM box had shock absorption, and Egg personnel put that inside another box w/ lots of paper padding.

Cons: The guy that put it into my laptop is a maroon?

Other Thoughts: Note to self - watch drive letter assignments when making initial drive images! Better off w/out them, dude! Sheesh...

1 out of 5 eggsINCOMPATIBLE with WHS v1

Pros: 2TB

Cons: Shame on Newegg and Samsung... absolutely no warning that these drives are NOT compatible with WHS v1. Unlike the WD EARS drives, where you can just jumper them and they plain work... and no, the samsung utility to re-align the drive does not work within WHS either. Complete waste of time and money.

Other Thoughts: Oh well, I guess I have another 2TB USB drive (sigh). Will have to order the WD EARS drive (and shame on WD and Newegg for not including a jumper pin for these drives).

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Does it's job. Hasn't given me a problem.

Cons: These things are still too expensive, though I was 1 day late on a great deal.

Other Thoughts: It's my second one of these, the first one is over a year old and still having no problems... which is amazing considering that that laptop has been dropped by my nephew more times than I'd like to admit.

5 out of 5 eggsSuprising Fast for a 5400rpm

Pros: Outstanding fast being an IDE @ 5400rpm. Found other reviews stating that it was spec'd just like a 7200 rpm IDE drive and I definitely believe it. Installed in an older laptop with Pentium M processor @ 2.0ghz and I was amazed at the increase in speed with running multiple applications.

Cons: Still and IDE
