5 out of 5 eggsSamsung Spinpoint F3

Pros: -Reliability
-Speed
-Price
-Easy of Installation

Cons: -None

Other Thoughts: Wonderful hard-drive (HDD)! It is a shame that Samsung in no longer producing the Spinpoint line of HDDs. I have both a 2TB and 1TB versions. They have lasted nearly 2 years with numerous reformats and are still running strong. If you can find these models anywhere then pick them up - worth their weight in gold.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat drive

Pros: I have 4 of these drives in my htpc, while I understand that they are now discontinued I wanted to praise samsung on this drive. I am just now having the first one that I bought have issues, considering that it has had an up time of almost 4 years 20 hours every day sense may 2010. It's use was as a live tv buffer over 6 tuners and was the DVR drive constantly having things recorded and deleted from it. I must say it has exceeded my expectations by far

Cons: .

5 out of 5 eggsIt just works

Pros: 2 1/2 years w/o problem.
Inexpensive.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I use this for backup. It has been spinning for over two years in occasional use
The drive was thoroughly burned-in before being put into service to detect and infant mortality.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have owned this HDD for over 3 years and can attest to it's durability! Mine has went through multiple power failures, unplugged power outlets, anything you can think of that would be bad for the HDD. Still solid and hasn't failed yet.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsTrash

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Got this to replace a failed hard drive. Put it in the system, fresh install, things were still freezing randomly and crashing intermittently. Life happened and i had to move suddenly and that computer sat unused for 11 months. Booted it back up this week put a fresh install of windows 7 on there and seatools is showing immediate failures, but more interestingly that the drive has been "running" for almost 2000 hours, which is absolutely impossible if it were new when i got it.

It would appear that I was sold a refurbished drive, and wasn't told about it. I was also unlucky enough to have to let it sit until the 1 year warranty expired. Minus points for both Newegg and Samsung on this one.

Other Thoughts: Ive only ever owned two samsung drives. One lasted about 7000 hours of moderate use, the other was DOA. Might be worth the extra 20 bucks to go Seagate or WD.
