3 out of 5 eggsMixed Opinion

Pros: When it works it's great!

Cons: I have the same problem as "ck." Periodically it just pauses for no apparent reason. It just stops read/write for a minute or so then back to normal.

Other Thoughts: I purchased two of these drives. One works perfectly. The other suffers from the pause problem described above. I returned the bad drive and ordered another one from a different vendor (in case there was a bad lot). The replacement has the same problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat rugged drive!

Pros: Fast, rugged, nice construction, usb 3.0 very fast, works perfectly with my macbook pro as well! This is my first Lacie drive but it seems very well made. I noticed when reformatting the drive (to get rid of the lacie setup assistant etc) that the 1tb drive inside is made by toshiba! Toshiba has a good rep for hard drives.

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: I like that the usb power cable supplied is a separate cable, those y-shaped cables supplied with some drives never seem to work well, the y part is never long enough if your usb ports are spaced apart. Nice job Lacie!

2 out of 5 eggsNot so hot

Pros: Looks rugged and doubles my usb throughput when it works. Works fine on a 2.0 port.

Cons: I cannot get it to work well on my ASUS P7P55D-E Pro. Drive is recognized and functions, but every minute or so it locks up for about 30 seconds. I've tried just about everything - reinstalled drivers, bios, turned off power management, antivirus, indexing, changed bios settings, switched ports, looked for file locks (there weren't any), cpu blocks, used on another machine, etc etc, all to no avail.

Other Thoughts: It could be my motherboard's usb 3.0 (NEC) or the drive, but in the end, it doesn't matter. It no worky.

And the cable is ridiculously short.

4 out of 5 eggsReplacement drive for a klutz

Pros: The drive is fast as they guaranteed. Worth the money spent. Appears to be solid built. I wont be purposefully testing its ruggedness at any point, but glad to know it claims to be. USB 3 cable plugs in nice and tight with what looks like lil hooks. Comes with a power cable for computers that do not have enough juice to power it off of one port.

Cons: Sometimes takes its sweet time refreshing when plugged in. However clears up fast and does not happen for while.

Other Thoughts: I dropped my primary portable hard drive and was sold on this one by a coworker who was demo'ing it from LACIE. Beautiful drive. Wish I could understand why it takes 30 seconds for refresh or when clicking around too much? Spin up time maybe? Also wonder if i can crack it open and slap in WD black 1tb ;)
