2 out of 5 eggs50/50 change of good hard drive

Pros: When they work, they work as advestised.

Cons: Bought two hard drives and both kept disconnecting, from time to time, one more often than the other. Now, one of them barely connects and files are possibly corrupted.

Other Thoughts: Tried contacting LaCie customer service by phone, but referred to website to complete a lengthy warranty process to return the hard drive. Overall, warranty not very useful when you depend on the hard drives working as backups. Solution, switch hard drives...

3 out of 5 eggsSamsung TV wont see it

Pros: Does everything it says it will... with s3x appeal

Cons: Havent found anything major, but the quality in the connections are lacking... just like the other reviews said. Doesn't work with my Samsung PN51E450.

Other Thoughts: The sole reason I bought this was to house movies to be accessed through my tv like a jukebox. The tv couldn't recognize it. Not sure if that's the fault of the newer tv, or the hard drive. Other drives work. There's not a whole lot of info out there to discern whats compatible with what in that regard. Had to bump some stars for that regardless.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat hard drive!

Pros: This thing is amazing, transfers at about 70 mb/s at first and then up to 150 mb/s on my hard drive, it may be faster if you have a ssd. Makes no sound, tons of space, looks good and its should be durable.

Cons: AC adapter, I hate having to use a plug in when I have seen people with 2TB hard drives powered by USB. its also kind of big.

Other Thoughts: It was great for me! unfortunately some wasn't very smart with computers borrowed it from me and must have tried to jam a cellphone charger into the female USB port on the hard drive because he broke it no less than 24 hours later breaking the prongs and the metal ring inside. I'm very sad but I'm talking to Lacie customer support now and i think they will be able to get it fixed for less than 20 bucks.

1 out of 5 eggsCost Me 2 Months of Photos

Pros: It looked nice

Cons: Ordered one of these and the connection consistently cutout as I was copying files to it right out of the box. RMA'ed it and got a replacement that worked well for the few days I had it before leaving on a road trip. I came back from my road trip and Windows 7 wouldn't recognize it on one instance and then said it needed to be reformatted on another instance. It was packed away carefully with another hard drive that's still working fine. Wound up losing two months worth of photos, which for a photographer is quite a bit of money. So long, Lacie!

Other Thoughts: Completely done with Lacie for good. Had other Lacie hard drives develop bad sectors pretty quickly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat external

Pros: USB 3.0
Easy to setup
Lots of space
Industrious design

Cons: Price has gone since my time of purchase
Blue light can be quite bright at night

Other Thoughts: I've bought two of these, both for media centers. They have been performing fantastically. I've had them for over a month and they have been working just fine. They were very easy to setup and use right away. I usually get transfer speeds of 100+MB/s when I need to transfer files.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Failed in 28 days.

Cons: After failing in 28 days, I was forced to purchase two g-tech drives (a reliable and customer friendly brand) in order to clone the drive and then recover any and all data. Having contacted Lacie, they failed to mention that I needed to return the product through newegg until 3 weeks upon first describing the problem. Now, I am forced to rma through lacie and eat the price of the drive as well as take ownership of a drive that no one should trust.

Other Thoughts: Their customer service is shotty and looks to only do what is financially in their best interest, not what is right.

Buyer beware

3 out of 5 eggsA Step Up

Pros: First time LaCie customer here.. seems to be a real quality product.
Nice aluminum case, long enough USB & power cables (HP are you reading??) On/off button. Spins up quickly. Quiet.

Cons: Ordered two of these. One works great, the other disconnects itself automatically within a few minutes (used the same connectors to test). Shame it must be RMA'd at my expense ($12 shipping). Had to knock 2 eggs off, otherwise it would get a 5.

Other Thoughts: It seems a huge amount of hard drives here @ Newegg are being returned for RMA. I can only wonder if the bad packaging on NE's part (c'mon, a thin piece of brown paper on one side of the shipping box is going to protect a hard drive from shipping bumps/drops??) Let's get people trained on how to pack a box properly and see if the "bad" drive claims go down!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Harddrive / Excellent Price

Pros: Drive is quick. Very quick. Takes absolute use of USB3.0, and surprisingly the drive has a very snappy feel to it for a 7200rpm drive. Transfers are blisteringly fast, and wake times are absolutely minimal.

Cons: It's not 3TB, not really a con, I just wish it was.

Other Thoughts: As a photographer, plenty of space is a must have. I've opted for several 2TB external drive for ease of transfer before being backed up on my network drives. This drive has been my work horse for the last few months and I have been very happy with it. 5 eggs and a definite thumbs up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat ext. HDD with a lot of room

Pros: This is an ample drive that should be able to store all of your needs. It has an AC adapter, so your mobility is somewhat limited. I would consider buying this drive again for more room, but 2TB will take a while to fill up.

Cons: I can't believe how the package came to me. The one end of the box was falling apart due to no tape. There was barely any padding(just paper) to cushion the drive. I know how UPS employees can take out their frustrations on packages. I'm embarassed to have recieved a package as it was. I hope I'm proved wrong that the drive will only last several months due to how it arrived in the mail.

5 out of 5 eggsStyle and Grace

Pros: I have the 1TB version and I liked it so much that I ended up buying this is 2TB version as well. USB 3.0, what's better than the newest USB 3.0, besides eSata, but USB 3.0 is at least compatible with USB 2.0 ports. Defiantly one of the most compact discrete desktop drives I know of if not the most. The USB 3.0 Cable is a decent length (3 ft.) unlike some of their previous model cables. The plug is international. Runs very quiet, and doesn't get too hot. The brushed aluminum enclosure helps keep the hard drive cool. Transfer rates for a 4GB file with speeds of at least 130MB\s with a burst speed of 1.06GB\s ending in about 43secs. Transfer rates for a 15.8GB file with speeds of at least 105MB\s with a burst speed of 529MB\s ending in about 2mins 45secs.

Cons: To be honest, none there is no Cons, I love this drive.

Other Thoughts: By far one of my favorite drives, and I have plenty external hard drives as well as internal drives. I love the minimalist design to this drive. Simple, flashy and not at the same time.
