1 out of 5 eggsClicks of death!

Pros: None

Cons: Died after 4 months of use, with my valuable data inside. I was too lazy to back it up to my cloud. The cheapest quote so far to retrieve my data has been $560. I don't want to RMA it since I will lose my data which to me is more valuable than the $139 I paid for it.

- Constantly goes into sleep mode and there is no feature to disable this. sometimes it takes up to 30 seconds for the drive to become available after waking up.

Other Thoughts: I only bought this because of the beautiful case, otherwise stick to a plain drive from a different manufacturer.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent value

Pros: Great capacity for the money - superb value. Compact, sleek, silent, good performance for its USB2.0 interface.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Used atto to benchmark this drive and got 29mb/sec read and 28mb/sec write. More than adequate for what I'll be using it for...which is an avermedia pvr to record console game play (max recording level 15mb/sec) so lots of wiggle room.

To the previous poster - every 2.5" external I've seen uses this small mini usb type plug - its pretty common. The connector is a good tight fit with a click feel so I don't see having any issue with it.

Highly recommended - get them while they last at this price!

5 out of 5 eggssuperb value

Pros: small, sleek, usb powered, stylish, adequate performance considering the interface is usb 2.0, great value overall

Cons: none really

Other Thoughts: Purchased this refurb for 50 bucks - extremely happy. To the above poster - most 2.5" externals use this mini usb connector like that of a cell phone or kindle.

I ran atto disk bench and she peaked at 29.224mb/sec write and 34.813mb/sec read. More than adequate for what I'll be using it for...connecting to my avermedia pvr to record console game play.

Pick one up while they last.

5 out of 5 eggsNice drive

Pros: Nice design and very easy to setup. A great deal at $55.

Cons: Newegg packed two cables in the box. I spent 10 minutes trying to put the wrong cable in the hole before I found the second cable in the packaging.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far so good....

Pros: Nice looking
Got some wieght to it - indicating a lack of cheapness
Well packaged.

Did I mention it looks great?

I could probably run this thing over with my car, and it would still work.

Has a white LED activity light on it. It's not too bright and it's not too dim. Perfect.

Cons: The USB connection may be a weak point.
On one side its a standard USB-A connector. But instead of a USB-B for the side of the cable that plugs into the drive Lacie uses a USB mini-A connector (something you'd find on a cell phone).

Also, It's not as fast as I was hoping.

i transferred a 247GB folder full of video files (700MB to 2GB file sizes) and it started at 16MBps and finished off at 31MBps.
That is faster than my WD 320GB, but only by 7MBps. I used a USB 3.0 port for the speed test.

Other Thoughts: I have never bought a Lacie product before, so I took a chance when I saw this.

All in all,

It's a good little drive. Picked it up to replace a WD 320Gb USB-powered drive I sold.

Paid $55 for this Lacie drive on newegg with a coupon.

It seems pretty sturdy, but ya never know...
I will leave another review if it fails or starts to have problems.

Bottom line - Buy it.
