This review is from: LACIE 1TB USB 3.0 Porsche Design Mobile Drive for Mac Model LAC9000293 Pros: Decent speeds from a USB3 connection. Stylish aluminum case (if you care about such things). Bright indicator light. Convenient length cable about 2.5 feet, good quality one at that. Fairly priced at the time. Idiot-proof works out of the box. Can be used in self defense if mugged outside library, workplace, etc… (its edges are that sharp and the case is that strong). Cons: A little pricey based on the designer's name, this cost a premium of maybe 5-7% because of the brand. The 996 inspired blah silver case could bore some. Other Thoughts: Other than the extra cost due to the Lacie / Porsche name i can not think of anything to complain about with this drive (which i actually do own). It is very small, the case is VERY tough (most people couldn't break it with repeated attempts), and it is certainly attractive in that uninspired Porsche industrial look. I could complain that the literature tells nothing about what brand disc and controller are inside, but either you trust Lacie or you don't. The included cable is not a cheap piece of junk, nor are any of the other visible pieces, so one hopes that is true of the internals (which are the only parts that matter, LoL )!! While i am not certain, i think the disk brand is of the Sea, but i have no clue as to the controller. I would not hesitate to buy another of these if the price was competitive. I would only get the unpainted silver ones, i think the white ones are ugly. If ever they make it in thunderbolt it would probably be a formidable drive. Did you find this review helpful?
