The Aegis Mini from Apricorn literally puts storage in the palm of your hand. This 80GB drive is only 3.4" x 2.7" x 0.7" and has the USB 2.0 cable built in. Inside the case the 1.8" drive is cradled by a 16 point shock mount system that protects it from drops at any angle.

Apricorn drives provide more than physical security for your data. The included drag and drop file security software lets you choose between 256-bit AES or 448-bit Blowfish encryption. Either way your data is password protected and safe.

These bus powered drives never need an external power adapter. They are also hot-swappable and plug-and-play. So, you can take your important data with you wherever you go with no worries.

Great if you need it

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Decent speed, works great on windows and mac, small footprint for 80 GB (at least the smallest footprint you can buy for 80GB today).

Cons: Plastic cover (but plastic is somewhat strong). Expensive for 80 GB.

Other Thoughts: Sure, it's cheaper to get a 2.5" hard drive instead, but it won't be as small.

Surprisingly Durable

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: May look cheap, but it has lasted me at least twice as long as any other small USB drive I've owned. They usually fail due to heavy use and travel (this one has survived over 100,000 air miles in the brief case, and 2400 miles in the bicycle saddle bag).

Cons: not the best $/GB out there
