Nice Extrenal Drive
- Pros: Nice external drive, very fast, and very quiet. The case is solid, and looks nice. USB 2.0 support was solid.
- Cons: Firewire support didn't seem to work. Windows didn't recognize the drive, and no drivers were given to enable Windows support (Windows recognized it, but didn't know what to do with it). Maybe you'll have better luck with FireWire.
- Other Thoughts: I ended up going USB 2.0 -- until I get a secondary USB card for my Shuttle case, the USB wire is routed 'round front.
Great Hard Drive
- Pros: I did a lot of shopping around for an external, and thanks to the great reviews here, I was able to get the best deal. I am new at reformatting, and again the reviews here are the best resource. The HD is silent and comes with the cables ( which some companies don't ship with their HD). I don't mind the size at all because I would rather have a good cooling system over a small box with a fan going. I usually go with Seagate hard drives, but their prices are completely ridiculous compared to everyone else. I would highly recommend getting this drive and coming back here if you have any questions.
- Cons: I thought the software almost made it more complicated than it really is. The software works, it's just that I'm not using it to backup my entire system. The other thing to look out for is that the driver is a Windows 98 driver. I went to the web site to upgrade, but it's the same driver. Win XP made it so easy that while I was trying to figure the driver thing out, it automatically found the driver on the disk and installed what I needed. I don't use the buttons on the front. It just makes it look better.
Great Product
- Pros: Worked right out of the box. Made into 1 ntsf partition then immediatly copied 60 gigs over with no problems.
- Cons: A little large.
- Other Thoughts: The buttons on front look cool but I doubt too many people acually use them.
