4 out of 5 eggsNice NAS

Pros: Gigabit for fast file transfers. Ability to add an external USB hard drive for scheduled backups. Network-based so you can read from and write to it from Windows, Mac, or Linux.

Cons: Web interface is slow.

Other Thoughts: There are many backup types (backing up from LinkStation to USB hard drive), I use Overwrite Backup (Differential Backup) because it deletes files on the backup when they're deleted from the LinkStation.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all cosrts

Pros: Good idea poorly executed.

Cons: USB connection never worked out of the box. Email support from Buffalo was clueless. Kept it for network storage and it has completly failed after 5 months. Since back up is via USB connection I have lost a bunch of files since my last manual backup. Web interface for admin locks up. Total ccrraapp piece of gear. Poor support. Run from this company.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct is not good in AD.

Pros: This NAS is quiet and fast. Very easy to setup for workgroup and NT DOMAIN. Repeat NT!! DOMAIN.

Cons: Buffalo tech support were NOT helpfull at all. THEY are all clueless (spoke with Matt, Chris and Jason). They don't know the diff between NT Domain and Active Directory domain. What's a waste of time.

Other Thoughts: Do NOT buy!! Active directory support is pathetic. The box says it can be a client in an AD environment but is not. The unit CANNOT participate in my AD period.

2 out of 5 eggsLink Station Pro Failed in 4 days

Pros: I have purchased 5 of the older Link Stations and had no problems. It sets up easy and has good interface.

Cons: Hard drive failed in 4 days and the worst part is Buffalo requires YOU to pay the shipping back for warranty!

Other Thoughts: I may have just gotten a bad machine but to make you pay for the shipping after the hassle and loss of all the data, thats just wrong!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: The setup couldn’t have been any easier. Just plug the device into your network and power it up. You don't need to install the client software they send with the unit, just plug the unit into your switch or router then check the IP address assigned to the device by your DHCP server, then open your browser and go to that IP address to configure the device. You can map the unit to a drive letter on each PC on your network if you want but it's not required as the unit shows up under my networks in Windows. Well built, quiet.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Simple setup, runs quiet, LOVE the Memeo backup software. The fact that you can setup an auto backup of files, directories and drives that runs in the background whenever changes are detected is invaluable. I LOVE being able to setup FTP access to it and share files with friends. We almost have our own file community going!

Cons: when you know what you're doing and are lucky enough not to receive a DOA there is absolutely nothing wrong with this product.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it says

Pros: Quiet fan, runs fast, nice size.

Cons: So far...none.

Other Thoughts: The Memeo software that came with the drive is an older version. You can get the updated version for free which has worked well. I have not experienced any network drops from wired or wireless computers.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from this piece of junk

Pros: None really when it won't work and their customer service is ignorate, slow and incoherent. NewEgg is taking it back is at no fault.

Cons: Can't attach a drive using the USB. Waste of a lot of time. Software does not work. Sometimes the device shows up on the network, sometimes it doesn't.

Other Thoughts: worst review I have ever given. I buy thousands of dollars worth of stuff from NewEgg and this is the worst waste of time in at least 2 years.

2 out of 5 eggsRMAing as we speak

Pros: Great shape, size, and easy to do what I needed, media backup (movies/music/pictures)

Cons: Firmware corrupt, spent hour and half one three calls getting a hold of them, then finding out that japanese lanuage won't allow itself to be changed when setting up manually.

Other Thoughts: Love Bufallo other gear, and their rep, when I see them when visiting Best Buy, but this is my third RMA product in the last month. So this might be a just me
