5 out of 5 eggsGreat little box

Pros: This unit is great, plug it in, buffalo's NAS Navigator will automatically find it on your network, map a network drive to your computer and open up the web config for you.

Set static IP if you would like to use with Symantec backup exec (backup to disk folder) and works like a champ.

Cons: So far i havent found any

Other Thoughts: I havent used the full potential of this unit, but it works great for backing up our small business, and mirroring the data over to another offsite location (must use another buffaloNAS device for the auto replication).

I will buy another someday.

2 out of 5 eggsVery, Very Slow

Pros: Very easy to setup for the novice user. Solid casing.

Cons: Very, very slow. I thought it would be a great little storage server for a small office 10 users. Even operating in port trunk mode on CAT6 lines, it's dragging along. I don't think I would even use this at home.

Manufacturer Response:

Please contact me so we can trouble shoot the speed your getting. There is something wrong if you are getting slow speeds. I am thinking there is probably a bottleneck in your network. This unit is the fastest rated raid1 unit available in the market and can handle up to 50 simultaneous connections of normal traffic without showing any performance degradation. You should be able to transfer 1GB of data at about 15-20 seconds.
