5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

This review is from: BUFFALO 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive USB 3.0 HD-LB2.0TU3 Black

Pros: Great case for the money. Three piece set - plastic snap together to protect the phone and a rubber cover for grip. Some of the rubber is cut to fit over raised portions of the case which gives it a nice feel and extra grip. Great seller - checked in to make sure I got the order and very helpful.

Cons: None. Can't beat it for the price.

Pros: - Fast while I had it

Cons: - Died after about 4 months of use

Other Thoughts: Don't buy the drive if you plan to use it all the time, it'l eventually die on you.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

This review is from: BUFFALO 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive USB 3.0 HD-LB2.0TU3 Black

Pros: A ridiculous amount of storage for the price!

Plug and play.

Nice design.

Runs fairly quiet.

USB3.0 is super fast.

Cons: Plastic case feels slightly flimsy if dropped.

Other Thoughts: I run windows 7 64 bit and haven't had any problems at all with this drive. Computer recognized the drive right away and I started transferring files immediately! Great drive for the price!

5 out of 5 eggsYour average OK external drive

This review is from: BUFFALO 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive USB 3.0 HD-LB2.0TU3 Black

Pros: Works great with Windows Backup, which is not the case with the 3TB WD drive I bought previously. On a Win7 machine with a USB3.0 port sustains about 60 megabytes/second when copying large files, but can be quite a bit slower on lots of small files.

Cons: Came formatted FAT32, but it took only about a minute to Quick Format it to NTFS in the disk management dialogue. Disks intended for backup use on Win7 must be NTFS.

Doesn't look like has the best ventilation system, but it seems to run cool enough and does not feel particularly hot at the end of a long backup session.

It has the usual creaky wall-dongle power supply, but at least it works and is acceptable at the price point.

1 out of 5 eggsUgh, hate to do this.

This review is from: BUFFALO 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive USB 3.0 HD-LB2.0TU3 Black

Pros: The price tag
It looks attractive and subtle
It's USB 3.0 + 2TB

Cons: On initial setup I couldn't just use it like most USB equipped items (Windows loads the driver, BAM go!). The only way it starts is if it's plugged in while computer is first turned on - Windows XP recognizes it as an Internal HD.

This isn't what I wanted, though - I want it to register as a portable device so I can unplug and move it around.

Further (and this might be power management related) - During the day today (first full day of supposed use), it decided to turn off, and I can't write or read to it at all.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I don't know if the problem is with the drive, my motherboard's USB 3.0 configuration or even if it's Windows 7 itself.

What I can say is that this isn't at all what I was hoping for, I want a simple portable external hard drive that's faster then USB 2.0. I'm RMAing this one and going to try for that Eagle-branded top-rated external HD.

Manufacturer Response:

th3byrdm4n, please contact me so we can trouble shoot. They way you intend to use the drive is how it supposed to work. With a USB3.0 capable machine you plug in the drive. It does not matter if the PC is on or off. It is a plug and play device. It is also compatible with USB2.0 (the color of the light will let you know what speed you are at). Also, I have no idea how your PC is mounting the USB drive as a internal drive. It will show up in the "computer" folder as a drive. But this is normal for any attached device.

thanks
