2 out of 5 eggsWorks but not Pro Grade

Pros: It has a good amount of storage for the price. It's really easy to set the RAID configuration. The web admin interface is easy to use. If you are looking for them, it has lots of extras like bit torrent, media server, print server, etc.

Cons: The FTP server is not very user friendly or customizable. You cannot use DFS to send a user straight to the folder they have access to. They have to drill down through Buffalo named folders to get access to theirs. A big con is that you cannot put permissions on sub folders. The execution of LVM (Logical Volume Management) is poor. It automatically puts a random precursor to the name of every folder that cannot be changed. For example if I made a folder named 'VOD' and it was part of the LVM, it would rename it lvm220_VOD. The tech support from Buffalo is also not very good. They were unable to resolve most of my questions and did not seem to have very much knowledge about their own product.

Other Thoughts: This unit works but does not have the functionality and customization you would expect from a professional unit. It is more of a prosumer grade unit. That, coupled with poor tech support, earns this unit only 2 eggs. If you want a simple NAS, this would work, but if you need a pro grade NAS/FTP server for your business, I would pass.
