Pros: I like it. But what I love is helpdesk. I have another hdd and sometimes problems arrives, I can live whit that. What annoys me is post sale, they don't give a !!!!! for you. But whit Buffalo it was diferente this guy Marco is a very professional man. He answered me immediately the next day and had my problem solved. For me this is very important. I have Lacies Western Digital and all have a service after sales to forget. This man should be promoted to CEO. Thank you.

Cons: To be perfect needed usb port and off button.

Other Thoughts: 5 star quality price.

Pros: Well, it didn't catch on fire.

Cons: Ordered two, one stopped functioning while loading data on it. Tech support was absolutely useless; I'm not sure the person I spoke with even knew they made this model.

Other Thoughts: This model has a blue LED, a power jack and an Ethernet jack - period. To turn it off you have to log into it with your browser and shut it down; to turn it on you have to unplug the power cord and then plug it back it, which starts it. Tech support said it was designed to never be turned off, so no power switch. Over the years I have bought maybe a dozen Buffalo units for customers and always found them to be well made, rock solid products that were about as dependable as anything you could buy. These two units were to replace two older units that were being retired after six years of flawless service. Never again.

Bill, sorry for the poor experience you had with the unit. Please send me an email if you need additional troubleshooting. These units are built with Tier 1, Class A drives and go through a long burn in period to help keep failures to a minimum. Sometimes products are mishandled during shipping and lessen the life expectancy of HDD's. If you are looking for more performance and functionality like USB ports and function buttons then you should look at our LinkStation Pro. LS-V1.0TL.

Pros: Stable, decent price, build quality is good, all the extensions are well implemented and rather useful

Cons: Web ui can be a bit slow, especially if you have a lot of the extensions running, but nothing too extreme or unbearable. Does not have the speed or high end features of the high end units, but for an inexpensive single bay what can you expect.

Other Thoughts: Transfers around 21-22MBps with standard frames and 23-24MBps using jumbo frames on my gig-e network

In regards to the previous review: there is a restore button in the web interface. If you are unable to boot device then you can hook it directly to your PC and then use the provided utility to reflash the firmware. How do reviewers rate their "tech ability" as "high," yet they are unable to perform basic, end-user level tasks. It's unfortunate to see so many good products being discredited on newegg by people who seem to overestimate their abilities and are likely unqualified to make such statements.

Pros: Semi Easy to setup

Cons: We setup the system to use FTP..it crashed after the initial settings.. No way to reset it back to factory, software reset didn't work and there is NO reset switch on this unit to perform a hard reset. Their Tech support had no idea the product didn't have a reset switch..20 minutes later they figured it out, another 20 on the phone..end result..We can RMA it for you..they never called back with the number.
DO NOT Waste your money.
