4 out of 5 eggsIt's OK...

Pros: Overall the product worked great..played avi files flawlessly. Had it hooked up to my Hi-Def TV with the component cables that came with the product and quality was good. Apart from that...the product ran pretty smooth and quite.

Cons: Only downfall to this unit is that it does not have the ability to play .mp4, .mkv files that are encoded in H.264. Majority of files downloaded now a days are heading towards the H.264 encoding, so with that said, if you are not looking to mess with .mp4 or .mkv then this product is a top choice.

Other Thoughts: Along with everyone else that reviewed this, the remote control is small and thin. Easy to misplace, lose or damage if you have a dog (Might mistake it for a toy..)

2 out of 5 eggsGood price but died on me

Pros: Great price and easy to setup.

Cons: Crashed TOTALLY!!! Lost all my data. >=(

After less then 6 months.

Other Thoughts: Well New Egg sent me a new one and at least my most important data was on an old hard drive.

The new one is louder. I hear it clicking every hear and there. Kind of scares me.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I don't personally own the 1TB model but I do own the 320GB model which I purchased in March 2007. This thing is pretty solid. Nice, big heavy build that is pretty hard to tip over. The remote is very small, sometimes too small and can get hidden sometimes, but this thing is WAYY better than trying to lug 100's of DVDs around. It plays the most popular file extensions like AVI, MPG and WMV, but it doesn't play any MP4 extensions so Mac lover be aware. I used this hard drvie for everything before I bought a MyBook 500 for all of my data to dedicate this drive to just movies, television shows and music.

Cons: Well, after awhile, things like to die. Don't get me wrong, the drive still works. I can still watch videos and listen to movies and view files on my computer. But I used to leave this thing on all night long when I went to bed, so things started going out the longer I used it. Right now I'm listening to a broken fan that's running on the back. It's not excessivly loud, but it can be annoying at times. Additonally, the blue HDD light on the front gave out about a month ago. Again, not a huge deal, but can be annoying. Slightly a convience for me because that light is BRIGHT and being in a dark room got the light to be very annoying.

Other Thoughts: I went out and bought myself an eletrical timer for my hard drive to turn the hard drive off at about 3am so it wouldn't be running for an additonal 8 hours. It'll prolong the life of your hard drive casing. This is the best hard drive I've ever own. Loads more features than any other.. Its just decided to be human like me and slowly die away.. The case that is anyways.

4 out of 5 eggsGood looks

Pros: Nice size for 1TB hard drive, nice litte remote control, and lots of different hook ups in the back. I do not have or seen the older models of this hard drive 350 GB - 750 GB's but they say this model is loud? I am sorry my laptop is louder than this which is not much to say but I have to look over to see if it still has the blue light on to make sure.

Cons: Would have liked it better if it was smaller in size. Nice little remote that you can break or lose easily. Lots of hookups in the back: 2 different RCA hook ups, a power hook up, usb hook up, and an s-cart hook up (eupoean style satilite box). They had a HDMI port but they did not install a HDMI hook up (this does support 720P)??? I do wish I ordered this from Newegg, bought it and the seller packed it half a@$ed with the packing peanuts and remnents from some other outdated storage devices. I am still waiting for it to go kaput. I copied some videos from my DVD collection and tried playing these and they acted kind of funny. I think running it through a computer and sending it then to my plasma TV would work better than trying to view it with the installed video player. Do not try to look at photos on the TV with this it took for ever 5-6 sec load times per picture. Sony digital camera with 10mp and now over 1000 pictures. tried to put it to standby hooked up to the TV nogo

Other Thoughts: I still have not gone through everything and checked it out and some of the buttons with the remote can be confusing. Thank goodness for the power button to turn it off when it freezez (hooked to the TV). Someone wrote about being able to upgrade to a larger faster HD be nice when and if they build that to keep the box and just go larger say 5TB??? Ripping DVD's is 4-5GB's depending on what you want so that equals 200 - 250 movies that you can watch on just this HD or about 300,000 pictures at 4-5MB's (2yrs and almost filled my my 4GB pro stick duo 1200 photos).

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic

Pros: I have purchased 3 of these for home media usage. Bought two of them for 65+ age computer illiterate friends and family just to combine media storage for traveling and not have to lug around 1000's of DVD's or VHS tapes. I load it up and just show them how to use it in a 2 minute intro. For myself works fine for everything you can use a hd for and everything you can use a media player for. I have a 300 gig one from Inoi that I bought about 3+ years ago that sounds like a jet engine when it starts up now. whatever... replacements are next to nothing.

Cons: nothing... hands down the best product i have ever purchased and would recommend it to absolutely anyone.

Other Thoughts: buy it!

4 out of 5 eggsINOi MH720-00999 1TB Media Player

Pros: Plays dvd files with very good clarity, with no skips, pauses or stuttering. Works as a media player when USB connection is out and when you plug it into a computer with the included USB, it becomes an extra drive on the computer or network. When we use it and are not watching a video in the one room, we plug it in to the network so other computers have access to the video files and can watch it on their computers. Place in good area where remote has line of site to the device.

Cons: If you copy files from one computer to the media player, it has a habit of putting the files in alphabetical order but backwards, depends on how windows is reading the way it should organize the files. Only works with the remote. You have to scan through all the files manually, there is no search box in the basic programming to put in a letter to speed up the search for a movie or music files...can be tedious with a 1 TB drive. Would also be nice if it continued to work regardless if it was being used on the network or not.

Other Thoughts: All in all it is an excellent media player for the money and since it is plug and play and somply uses any sata hard drive in an aluminum enclosure, as the drives continue to grow in size, these drives can be easily swapped for bigger ones when the time arises.
