5 out of 5 eggs Great NAS Alternative

Pros: I was on this page to purchase my 2nd 3TB drive. I have had my first one now for almost 2 years this Christmas. Works flawlessly. Contrary to other reviews, you do not upload files through the web. I am using USB 3.0 and it works great. The first one I use for movies and music. The second for photos and home movies. I have had no issue with USB.

Cons: None unless it dies but not so far.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Enough Info in the Description

Pros: Seems like a good hard drive but not your typical external hard drive.

Cons: Was trying to help a friend with his files when I realized that you can only transfer the files through the web. It says that it has a USB port but not for transfering files. Transfering the files takes a lot longer because it is done through your internet. Anytime you want to access your hard drive you have to be able to connect through the internet. I was very bugged that the description did not say as much. I have helped many friends with external hard drives and would never order this one again.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Good storage, compact, SATA 600, 7200 RPM drive inside

Cons: USB I/O flaky

Other Thoughts: Received 3 TB GoFlex as a gift. Initially worked.

Over time, experienced many intermittent errors, that eventually terminated in BSOD.

Usual Error Msg:
"Windows - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file I:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."

Power down / up often cleared the problem with the USB I/O. But once it started triggering BSOD, it was finally disconnected.

Removed the 3 TB drive from the case, and it ran flawlessly. This leads me to conclude that the USB I/O was at fault.

YMMV
