4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Very small
Light weight
No anoying LED
Nice, short cable
Quiet !!!!

Cons: Seems a little slow for USB 3.0

Other Thoughts: Using Win7 64bit, with the same 3.0 cable plugged into the same ETRON 3.0 controller add-in card I got here at nu-egg, this Seagate expansion drive is giving me slower speeds then my 1tb WD my passport 3.0 drive. I'm copying a 668gb folder with digital comic files, music files, movie files, and some pictures all catagorised in seperate folders within one main folder. This drive was bought as my 3rd physical back-up for these precious digital files I wish to save. I'm getting a sustained 25mb a second transfer speed with this Seagate but I'll get a sustained 39mb a second with my WD copying the exact same file. While this is not a big deal to me since I'm just copying/pasting a folder and walking away to do other things, its only noticeable since I've come back hours later to see it's still copying when the WD was done much faster the day before. Files contained within specified folders are from 3-6mb music, 11-20mb comics, and movies from 1.5-3.9gb in size(idk about pics but they are from an 11mp camera)

I cant comment on if it gets hot since it's sitting on top of the 240mm case fan that's on top of my Antec 1200 case.

For the price to size ratio it's a great deal for the $59 I paid for it, and its doing its job of sitting in my drawer until I need to add more files to it. Hopefully it lasts a long time since it's not being used much at all.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: When I access the Seagate hard drive it boots up instantly and I am able to move about the folders.

Cons: The cable is too short! It's not a big problem though since I just keep it sitting on the back-top of my computer.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small and lightweight
doesn't need external power
fairly cheap

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Bought this to use as a media server on my Asus rt-n16 router with tomato firmware. Right now i'm just using it with mp3's. Seems to work great so far.

1 out of 5 eggsAll of my work...

Pros: worked for a little over a month

Cons: Everything

Other Thoughts: I have had this thing for a little over a month and a half. I lost ALL of my work. All of the artwork I had been working on for 3 years in college, all gone. I was working on a project last night, saved, shutdown. Today I go to open my project and I cannot find the HDD files anywhere. It does not show up on my computer anymore. It doesn't show up on ANY computer anymore. The light is steady blue for 5-10 secs then starts blinking. I have been combing the internet for a way to fix it, but I could not. Seagate tech support virtually non existent. All my work is lost. My final projects that are due in a week are all gone. I had been working on them for 3 months... I will never buy a seagate product again. 3 years worth of work gone overnight. I know I don't have a shot in hell to retrieve the files. I would give this thing a -5 star rating but i cant.

1 out of 5 eggsreturn costs for replacement of faulty drive

Pros: none company is very very lame

Cons: well as a follow up too my last review. Called Seagate and all they could tell me was that it might be the cable. So they will send me a replacement drive to check the cable which will cost me 10 dollars and change. No way they will even consider data recovery without fee. And all i kept hearing from Seagate was this is how all HD companies do it and they tell all their customers that they should have 2 backup drives to store the data. Of course nowhere do they say that in the ads for the drive or on the box or anywhere. Just plain lame.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: worked well out of the box easy to install

Cons: stopped working after 6 weeks....blue light kept flashing. Was not recognized by any of 3 different pc's. one with windows 7 two with xp. Seagate will not recover data for you without a fee which could run to over 500 dollars even tho it is a faulty drive. DO NOT buy from them if your drive goes bad you might as well kiss your data goodbye. I repeat Do Not buy from seagate.

Other Thoughts: Terrible policy on data recovery. The worst i have seen. Even if it is a faulty drive they will still charge you up the wazoo for recovery.

5 out of 5 eggsWhere have you been all my life?

Pros: This little puppy really does the job. Wondered about the single data/power USB connection. But when I tried it I was impressed. Much faster than the outdated USB/power adapter I've used for a long time.

Put it through its paces with my large music, photo and document files. A breeze - a sweet breeze. It takes the chore out of backup.

With simple USB connection and no power adapter it's so easy to swap between my desktop and two laptops.

I'm keepin' it.

PS: Kudos to the Egg for using OnTrac for shipping. Fastest service I've ever received over all these years and it was FREE.

Cons: R U kidding?
