1 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Best packaged OEM drive I've seen from the Egg. Nice change from
previous years when bare drives were allowed to rattle around in the box.

Cons: Won't spin up. Tried on 3 different systems and controllers, Drive
responded to identification requests, but without spinup no actual SMART
data was available.

Other Thoughts: Lesson here: never order anything you won't be able to test well within the
30 day return period (Premiere gets you no slack). This was 10 days past
that period, so have to pay for shipping RMA back to Seagate. I knew this
but had hoped that the Enterprise model with its 5-year warranty would be
much less likely to have the problems of its cheaper brethren. Sigh.

If it had worked, would have ordered a couple of their 4TB models. Now
that purchase will have to go elsewhere -- I know the other company isn't
necessarily any better, but it's a matter of principle. What else can
anyone do?

5 out of 5 eggsBought two, both still working

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I bought two of these drives. I bought one in July of 2013, and put that in an older dual-core PowerMac G5 (PowerPC). I bought a second one in June 2014, and put that in a MacPro Quad-Core Intel Xeon. Both drives have been working fine for me. My MacPro is running 24x7. The older G5 is often running 24x7, but will occasionally be turned off for a day or two at a time.

Cons: None so far. However, they get relatively light use, so I can't say how well they would stand up under heavy disk I/O.

Other Thoughts: Before buying these I had bought a series of drives from various manufacturers, all of which ran into problems within six months of purchase. That's why I waited before writing a review of these drives.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Bought 2, after 30 days + both are running flawlessly (knock on something). Their performance matches the rest of my new system (Okay. they're slower than the SSD boot-drive but that's not at all unexpected)

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGood deal when reliability is important

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: These units are from Seagate's Enterprise class drives. I specifically use these in servers and business usage. Have quite a few of them now (several dozen) in multiple servers under hardware RAID controllers. Not a single failure or SMART error so far (so think some of the DOA comments are probably a bunch of malarkey). Performance is excellent for this type of drive and have been running them for several months without incident.

Cons: Would be nicer if they were a lower price. But then again, glad to pay a little extra for a higher rated (MTBF) drive with the longer warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsGobble Gobble

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This drive just gobbles the data up! The 128MB cache really does make a noticeable difference especially when transferring a lot of little files. Loving it and with a 5 year warranty and 2TB's of space it made a great stand alone data drive for me.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Kudos to New Egg for it's new hard drive packing!

I remember a time when they use to show up like a bouncing betty in a box.

3 out of 5 eggsSeagate is good so far

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: The package arrived on time. It is a very large HD. My computer detected the HD with 1.81 Capacity out of the 2 TB.

Cons: I don't know if this is good but my HD Tune health detected yellow status on the (0A) Spin Retry count and and B8 (unknown attritube). Does this mean its a defective product?

4 out of 5 eggsStable so far

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: It's very big and fast.

Cons: According to HD Tune, the Spin Retry Count is mark yellow and the BD8 is also mark yellow. HD Tune still mark it as health, but this a cause for concern?

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I purchased 3 of these for use in a RAID 5 array. The worked out of the box and they deliver good performance. I get an average read rate of 289.2 MB/s connected to my LSI raid controller.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsDead Dead

This review is from: Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST2000NM0033 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: NONE

Cons: I ordered 3 of these for a server. Right out of the package 2 of the 3 drives clicked and would only show up as 23.5MB. I sent all 3 drives back. I would not trust these drives... I'm ordering another brand....
