4 out of 5 eggsSolid Enough

Pros: Hasn't died yet
relatively quick

Cons: general fear/skepticism of Seagate products

Other Thoughts: Bought this just about two years ago as an upgrade from a 1TB drive and it's still going strong. Popped it into the case, connected everything, Clonezilla-ed the files from the old over to it, and it was up and spinning no sweat. It's being used it as a storage drive in an always-on Linux box for files served over the network (mostly audio/video files). No complaints with speed, noises, etc. So far, it's done exactly what I want a HDD to do. Knock on wood for more years of survival.

On a side note, I have mixed feelings about the fact that the price is still exactly the same today as it was when I bought it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I purchased these a year ago for a backup up and restore system. They get a lot of read and writes to them and they have worked flawlessly. They get hot swapped often so they are moved around a lot and it hasn't damaged them.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsWorst brand drives EVER!!!

Pros: NONE!!!

Cons: I have had absolutely no luck with seagate drives! I warn you it will fail . Every one I have purchased in the last 10 years has failed and I have lost all my data. Buy at your own risk! They are the worst drives ever. None of my other brand drives have ever failed! None! in all the others I have owned in 20 years!

1 out of 5 eggsSneaky: 5,900 RPM, not 7,200.

Pros: The product may be fine. See Cons for a comment about the listing.

Cons: 5,900 RPM, not 7,200.

Leaving out a specification when it isn't good is sneaky behavior. When there is something you can't trust, that makes it necessary to wonder if there are other dishonest activities.

Other Thoughts: Being sneaky is a form of dishonesty. Is Seagate badly managed?

5 out of 5 eggsJust what the doctor ordered

Pros: 4TB of space....What can go wrong????

I haven't used this HDD as much due to my 2TB not filling up as fast as I thought it would. I got it on blackfriday along with two SSD's.

I have had no issues with the use it has gotten.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Great investment. My 2TB HDD was getting full of movies and shows as well as non demanding games and programs. Figured it was time to invest in more space. Glad I did. Primarily using this for Repos/Unity Projects as well as switched it do the main non demanding games HDD

5 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: seems very typical of a mechanical hard drive, not too loud, slightly slower speed which is fine for me.

Cons: Can't format it to 4tb and use it as a bootable drive

1 out of 5 eggsToo bad it didn't work.

Pros: Worked the first time I plugged it in, High capacity, reasonable price.

Cons: After less than 3 months this HDD crashed and burned. No warning, no odd noise, just POW and done. Not happy I have to deal with Seagate (and pay the return postage for their busted equipment). I also hate the fact I bought a brand new HDD and now after their equipment has failed under less than nominal usage I get a REFURB model as compensation. I've seen this before and I know I'll see it again but companies need to realize if a consumer paid FULL retail price for a brand new piece of hardware and it fails I expect to get an equal replacement NOT a repaired drive! If I wanted a refurb I would have bought a refurb! I'll probably go back to WD as I seem to have better luck.
