Industry-Leading Performance
Built and tested to provide industry-leading performance, NAS HDDs are fine-tuned to quickly and reliably support home and business applications. By supporting multiple HD video streams and user profiles in a multi-drive environment, Seagate NASWorks reliably provides the performance demanded by NAS solutions. Custom-built features minimize the occurrence of common issues found in NAS applications.

NAS HDD

NAS Works
NASWorks includes features such as extended error recovery controls, minimized vibration effects and advanced power management. Furthermore, NASWorks improves drive health and performance, delivering the 24x7 reliability demanded by 1- to 8-bay systems.

NAS HDD

NASWorks: Ensuring Drive Health in RAID Arrays
NAS error recovery controls help ensure drives maintain the highest data integrity without compromising system performance. Working together with a RAID array, NAS error recovery controls protect your data where traditional desktop HDDs may fail and cause the RAID to start the time-consuming task of rebuilding the entire drive.

NAS HDD

NASWorks: Enabling Performance in Multi-Drive Environments
Standard desktop drives can emit vibrations that become amplified in systems with two or more drives, compromising performance and data integrity. With the support of the NASWorks dual-plane balance, drive vibrations are dampened so that they can perform consistently and reliably in applications with one to eight drives.

NAS HDD

High-Capacity NAS HDD
You can maximize your storage and minimize costs with up to 4TB on a single NAS HDD—that's enough for up to 800 thousand photos, one million songs or 500 hours of HD video content at home. Or, it's enough space to store CAD files, images and databases at the office.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent hard drive

Pros: Stable hard drives so far. Short ownership duration, therefore cannot say more.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought couple of these about a month ago to replace the Seagate Barracudas of the same size in my NAS. Barracudas (3out of 5) failed after about 18 months of use. Then I bought this 3 drive combo item to replace the remaining Barracudas just in case.

5 out of 5 eggs10 months - No issues

Pros: This hard drive worked from the start with minimal hiccups. You just have to format it and give it a drive letter and you're good to go (just use google if you're having issues setting up).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I use this drive as a supplement to my SSD and I couldn't ask for more.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice.

Pros: Running in an unRaid NAS for over just under 2 years. Fast read/write compared to other low-rpm mechanical 2GB drives from Seagate and Samsung. Quiet enough with no clicking.

Cons: Takes a looooong time to spin up the drive. This is used in a 1-2 user NAS environment and unRaid is set to spin down drivers after a half hour of inactivity. Other NAS-oriented 5400/5900rpm drives spin up quickly enough but this one just takes forever comparatively - to the point where spontaneous write operations generated when the drive us spun-down will fail just a few milliseconds before the drive spins up and have to be restarted. Occasionally the network drive mapped to Win 7/8.1 will report unavailable when the other drives are available just because this one spools up so slow.

Other Thoughts: This is actually an outstanding drive. Just put it in an environment were it doesn't spin down or spins up as a synchronized group of disks.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Nice capacity at a nice price - picked this up for $90 shipped
- Decent transfer rate, works well enough as a media storage drive
- As easy as can be to set up

Cons: - Doesn't work with my external enclosure for some reason, but that's not a huge issue

Other Thoughts: I've always been a bit wary of Seagate products due to their notoriously high failure/DOA rates. However, when I saw the high rating for this drive, I decided to give it a shot - lo and behold, it works absolutely fine. I'm using it as a media storage drive, and it's great for that purpose. Don't expect SSD transfer speeds, and you'll be perfectly satisfied.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, fast, reliable

Pros: I have four of these drives and they all work fantastically. Two are in computers, one is a NAS, and one is in an external drive enclosure. I have had no problems. Definitely a good bang for your buck.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Reasonable price
Good storage capacity
Easy install

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: More of a pointer for installation -

If you're building a system with an SSD as the primary storage device, the system may not automatically detect the Seagate NAS HDD.

To address this, navigate to the Control Panel and go to Disk Management. If the HDD is properly connected and is not defective, the drive should show up and you should be able to format here.

2 out of 5 eggsI have been let down

Pros: Good Price on "Good" hard drives. This is a rant right now. I am sure once I get the other three working, they will work find like every other Seagate hard drive i have owned.

Cons: I am giving this a 2 eggs right now. I ordered 5 of the hard drives and only 2 worked. So 2 eggs is the number of working hard drives

Other Thoughts: Couldn't go wrong for the price. I didn't test them right when I got them because I assumed they would have worked. I had to set up my home network and that took a while. When i was finally ready to set up my NAS, well, let's say I was a little dismayed.
