1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Arrived on-time

Cons: The moment the item was powered it began giving audible error tones.
Unrecognizable in BIOS and OS on both computers I own.

Other Thoughts: Refurbishing company didn't seem to even attempt to fix this item before it was resold -_-

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't last long

Pros: Good performance for the price

Cons: Didn't last long. In less than 5 months of very casual use in a spare computer, it's dead. The drive just makes clicking noises and doesn't boot. $19 down the drain.

1 out of 5 eggsReplacement Drive received was another old SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drive

Pros: None

Cons: This review is a follow-up of my 9/26/2015 review. After
2 weeks I was sent by UPS 1-day delivery a
replacement for the first old SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drive
sent to me. I opened the anti-static bag and again there was an old SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drive in it. The Model No. was ST3250310AS; Date Code: 09337
(3 years older than the SATA 6.0Gb/s hard drive advertised); Power on time: ~1000 Days; Total stop/start count: ~10,000 (very high). This time only the Serial No. was on the label of the anti-static bag (no Model No.). It was well-packaged this time with heavy
duty bubble wrap. These drives are not being sent by Newegg from its distribution warehouses but rather by a 'refurbishing company' in New York.

Other Thoughts: I called customer service and got a new RMA number
and a UPS return shipping label. I complained about
the 'refurbishing company' Newgg is working with.
She said she would write up a Help-Ticket. I will keep
sending the old drives back until I get sent the
ST3250312AS 250 GB SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive I bought.

2 out of 5 eggs2 of 3 dead after 5 months

Pros: Low price. Expendable. Good for non-essential data or main OS drive as long as you have good system restore backup. These are a perfect size for a dedicated OS drive.

Cons: 2 have died within 5 months. Last one is still going strong, but given the history of the other two, I'm wary that I'll be buying more soon.

Other Thoughts: Buying refurbished is always a risk and I only do it because I want a hard drive of this specific size. I may try some other brands next in order to compare quality.

1 out of 5 eggsOld 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive was in the Electrostatic Bag

Pros: None

Cons: Did not get a Seagate ST3250312AS 250GB SATA 6.0Gb/s hard drive. An older Seagate ST3250318AS 250GB SATA 3.0Gb/s hard drive was in the electrostatic bag. It had a Date Code of 10502 and a Power on Time of 1607 days (it is two years older than the hard drive which is advertised). The label on the electrostatic bag had the correct Serial Number of the hard drive on it but the Model No on the label did not match the Model No on the hard drive. Also this drive was poorly packaged. It was not placed in the usual "hard drive air-bag" that Newegg normally uses. It had plastic air pillow wrap circled around the drive but it was not inflated. Basically it was loose inside the box.

Other Thoughts: Customer Service said it was a mistake, quickly gave me an RMA, e-mailed me a return UPS shipping label and said Newegg would replace the hard drive. But I still had to waste my time boxing up the hard drive and dropping it off at UPS. I hope I do no get another old hard drive because I will send it back again.

5 out of 5 eggs$22.99

Pros: I bought this to replace the exact HDD that crapped out on me. I hope this one stays alive. But it works well.

Cons: Like a said, I am replacing the same HDD. Maybe they're better after refurbishing, maybe not,

2 out of 5 eggsRefurbished: Seagate Barracuda ST3250312AS 250GB

Pros: It arrived quickly and was very well packed.

Cons: This drive is advertised as a 6.0Gb/s drive, but according to Seagate's web site it is actually a 3.0Gb/s drive.

Interfaces 1 x SATA 3 Gb/s - 7 pin Serial ATA

Other Thoughts: Now waiting to see if Newegg tries to make me pay for the return shipping for their mistake.
