1 out of 5 eggsHardware failure

Pros: Excellent for automatic backup and data storage.

Cons: Within about three months the HD fried or suffered a power supply failure because when it became plugged in the power light just flashed the HD did not sound as if it were spinning up and was not recognized by the USB port

5 out of 5 eggsiomega Professional 1TB USB 2.0

Pros: eSATA is awesome! Purchased in 2010. This is a nice drive and I've had NO problems with it since ownership. I use it almost daily and it generally always stays powered on.

Cons: Nadda.

5 out of 5 eggsremote differential compression

Pros: I stuck with this guy after esata wasn't really working for me on win7-64. the drive would wind down and stall after about 20 gb or so. I found the solution was to disable "remote differential compression" which is on by default in win7-64. This actually solved ALL of my file transfer issues between discs, sync'd usb devices et'al. Great drive, enjoy it.

Cons: had to figure out the win764, no help on the net except for that one article on msdn... whew.

Other Thoughts: completely compatible with esata and usb on win7-64.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat drive, but failed after 6 months

Pros: The drive worked right out the box. It was great and fast, doing everything I needed it to do. I was amazed that I didn't fill it up.

Cons: It died after 6 months. The power light comes on, and then it turns off after a few seconds. Fortunately, I can get the data off it if truly necessary, and the stuff on the drive was just emergency backups.

Other Thoughts: Excellent drive, but maybe I'll go for something else. First external drive I've had die on me, surprisingly, and I've had a moderate number of them

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect.

Pros: KEEPS COOL! And I mean COOL! Almost the perfect drive case for 3.5" drives. Small Sleek and fast. This is not a poser Glam Rock External drive. You can tell the engineer got his way with this one. In a Real world use, this is my portable large format drive of choice. The other is a Lacie D2 drives that cost more. So this is the next best thing.

Cons: Yea, I had one that failed. That's normal. RMA is a pain. Plastic holder kind of weak. Still would not stack these drives as they get hot being on top of one another.

Also case dents easy. Little protection for the drives inside
eSATA still kind of flaky with these drives from IOMEGA and not really something I would use these for IMO.

RMA is no where as near as good with someone like LACIE. Tech Support is nice. but not up to EMC nice.

Nothing to write home about. Most will never have any real issues with these drives.

Other Thoughts: If you stack them Vertically, AOK! The vent from the front works VERY WELL! Not as fast as some. But works well.

Great form factor if you need portable storage in a 2TB, 3TB form factor. They do get WARM, but at least the case is doing it's job. Works even in hot 100'F work stations without a hiccup for days at a time. However, that is where we had one failure. Not bad considering.

4 out of 5 eggsworks fine

Pros: Price and name brand and works

Cons: not yet

Other Thoughts: Don't expect miracles and don't run a external all the time....only for backup and switch it off unless u have software to spool it off.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat backerupper

Pros: Nice housing, very fast transfer speeds with e sata cable. Comes with everything you need. No bloatware on harddrive. Works great.

Cons: Could've put activity light in front instead of back. Thats just being picky.

Other Thoughts: I would purchase again.

1 out of 5 eggsesata doesnt work!

Pros: None, eSATA failed to recognize in my Windows 7 64 Bit. The reason I use this HD because I don't have USB 3.0. This drive support eSATA transfer which is much faster than USB 2.0 in transfer speed. I will try a another brand to replace this drive.

Cons: This drive doesn't work on my windows 7 64 bit. eSATA failed to recognize. I did some research. Some people suggest to change the bio's SATA setting from RAID to AHCI. However I didn't try this method because I will need to reinstall my whole system after the change.

1 out of 5 eggsESATA failed to work!

Pros: None since my system failed to detect this hard drive on ESATA port! This hard drive works fine when I connect through USB cable. However ESATA connection has much better transfer speed. If you don't have USB 3.0, ESATA is the better option for you.

Cons: Beware! I am running windows 7 64 bit system with default Bios setup on RAID instead ACHI. I did lot of research on my issue. As the result I need to set my bios RAID to AHCI from bios setup before I use this hard drive(I need to reinstall my whole system). Check your system setup before you buy this product.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: -Aluminum sides are fingerprint resistant
-Downloadable software is decent
-The device is very quiet

Cons: -Included Sata cable is short
-The drive gets somewhat warm, probably fine
-The stand it comes with is just a plastic piece that doesn't even attach to the drive.

Other Thoughts: The drive is built solidly and does what it says it can, but I wish they would have used aluminum for the back panel as well. I finally feel safe having my data backed up.
