With one USB 2.0 and two fast FireWire 800 ports, the iomega eGo Desktop hard drive offers triple interface versatility for Mac users and a stylish design. It is formatted HFS+ for a great out-of-the-box experience. Plus, the iomega Protection Suite Mac Edition is provided, including Trend Micro Smart Surfing software for Mac, iomega QuikProtect and MozyHome Online software (available via download). Keep your data safe, and take it with you wherever you go with iomega!
Good and Bad
Pros: Pre-formatted for Mac OS.
Cons: The ON/OFF push button on the back of the drive is absolutely horrible. It'll "catch" inside the case when pushed in and takes some careful fiddling to get it to pop back out. Not a show-stopper... unless you need to turn the drive off and on a lot (thankfully I don't). Since my drive is over a year old, it could be iOmega has fixed this problem with more recent production lots.
Other Thoughts: I've been using this drive continuously with a MacBook Pro for over a year now and haven't had any problems except for the annoying ON/OFF push button mentioned under "cons." I have mine partitioned into two 1Tb drives, one to store videos and one in use as a Time Machine backup. I have another portable external Firewire hard drive daisy-chained to it for nightly SuperDuper backups.
