1 out of 5 eggs Enemy to your data

Pros: Writes/reads fast with usb 3.0.

Cons: Loses file system just as fast and becomes RAW. Lost 1TB data, TWICE, to this drive. Recovery software not successful.

Other Thoughts: Always back up if you've wasted your money on this drive. It will eventually fail. Mine lasted 4 months before the first failure. Good luck...

1 out of 5 eggsProduct Defect

Pros: Designed solid and sleek

Cons: The male port from the cord does not securely connect to the hard drive. This means once you start to copy files to the hard drive you have to be EXTREMELY careful not to touch any part of the cord, hard drive, or PC/laptop whatsoever. Since I tend to use my external hard drive in bed and lack hard surfaces, I have little use for this hard drive. I am also extremely unpleasant with the companies lack of replacing/solving my problem

Other Thoughts: If the company would assist in replacing or repairing my issue I would have purchased more products from them. But I have yet to see any results...

1 out of 5 eggsPretty but not user friendly

Pros: Nice size, love the case its pretty

Cons: Once you install the backup software that comes with it all you have is a headache. You are better off setting up a robocopy script that just runs when you want it. Otherwise the thing just errors like crazy.

Other Thoughts: I wish they still sold the Maxtor Black Armor that thing was awesome. :(

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsSolid and Dependable

Pros: --Durable (Have dropped it a few times and still functions)
--No power cable needed as it draws it from USB
--Cool (Have touched it on various occasions and has never felt hot)
--Quiet (Unlike some of the WD externals I've had, this one is runs w/o a peep)

Cons: --None

Other Thoughts: At the time of this writing I've had it for 9 months now and have come across nary a problem. I would definitely recommend for it's size, how quiet and cool it is, and it's ability to draw power via USB.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: High speed USB 3.0; External 1TB backup; Lightweight and portable; no external power source needed other than computer itself; comes with 1 year antivirus protection software.

Cons: Doesn't come with a case.

Other Thoughts: I've had this external drive for over 3 months and it has worked flawlessly for me. I will definitely order another one when time comes, especially to renew my one year antivirus the drive comes with. Hopefully a 2 TB of equal portability comes out by then with the same antivirus bonus deal.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this thing!!!

Pros: It's pretty.

Cons: A "backup drive" that fails within a few days, is worst than nothing. This drive is a disaster! Backed up all my data off my laptop in order to send THAT back for repair (Lenovo), and then this thing failed before I could make a 2nd copy! Iomega's online chat support says to send it in to their paid data recovery service for a "free quote". Just great.
Windows is saying "You need to format the disk in drive F: before you can use it."
In other words, your data is gone!
Tried several different computers - same result.

Other Thoughts: Worked for a week. And of two Iomega drives I've had, both lasted one week and are now junk. Their online support is lousy.

Can I express enough how little I think of Iomega's products, after this experience?

Running Windows 7 x64.

Manufacturer Response:
