Features: The 4TB G-DRIVE USB 3.0 External Desktop Hard Drive by G-Technology is a spacious 4TB capacity external hard drive that features a generous 64MB cache, a fast 7200 rpm spindle speed, and hi-speed USB 3.0 and FireWire connectivity.

It also features a SATA II 3Gbps interface for smooth transfer and reliable operation on the inside. On the outside, the USB 3.0 port can deliver maximum transfer rates of 5Gbps. If you're a Mac-based user, you still get the convenience of FireWire 800 (backwards compatible to FireWire 400). The fanless drive has its own internal heatsink built into the unit which offers improved cooling and quiet operation.

The G-DRIVE can be used for professional video and sound editing, or to simply store your essential data. Either way, you can rest assured that the hi-speed connectivity and high capacity of this external drive will suit your needs. The unit includes all necessary cables, and is formatted for Mac (HFS+ Journaled) right out of the box. It's also Time Machine compatible. With a simple reformat, it can be used with Windows as well.

I have 5 LaCie externals (doing video editing and burning), but will continue to buy G- Tech in the future, as it has held up better from daily use. Cons: no complaints.
