1 out of 5 eggsA bad Drive

Pros: Liked the ideal behind the drive, shock, water and dust proof.

Cons: A bad drive, one that keeps asking to be formatted, lose of data, even when one uses the window safety eject of USB hardware. ADATA hard to deal with for warranty. I used the drive for only back-up and have less than one month usage of total time before it started acting up.

Other Thoughts: I am hoping that newegg will offer some help, a return, a replacement, if not that is 79.00 loss, which is hard to handle in this day and time

5 out of 5 eggsRescinding My Last Review

Pros: All of the good things I said before, great case, nice way to attach the cable. You can bounce this baby off the floor, and then plug it back in and use it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It turns out my Windows 7 64 bit Pro installation was somehow misconfigured. After discovering the drive worked on every other system that I tried, I had the laptop operating system reinstalled by our company's support staff. The drive now works perfectly.

If I could delete the last review I would.

BTW - Interestingly mine originally showed 110MB of used space, even though there were no files on the disk (including hidden and system). I reformatted and that space was recovered.

My apologies to AData. I will buy their products again.

1 out of 5 eggsAlmost DOA

Pros: Seems like a nice case, nice way to attach cable

Cons: Seemed to work at first, but immediately started getting sector errors. Now I cannot even format the disk. And, of course, after it worked at first I threw out the packaging so I can't return it. So, I just threw away money.

Other Thoughts: If I could give it zero eggs, I would. Never buying AData products again.

1 out of 5 eggsLong load times for Win7

Pros: It can hold down a lot of paper in windy conditions.

Cons: When plugged into a laptop running Win7 load times are embarrassing. The quickest time I have had was almost 7 mins till the device was operational.

I purchased 4 of these HDs, all 4 do the same thing on several computers running Win7.

Works GREAT in XP but not in Win7.

E-mailed their customer service several times over the course of a couple months and have not heard anything back.

Other Thoughts: Makes a great desk coaster for any Win7 user!

5 out of 5 eggsAdata A+

Pros: Very surprised how well built and thought out this HD is! USB wire stays with it, very nice touch. Have had this for 3 months and no issues, runs perfect. Rubber shell for case has worked great, 2 drops off of desk and not a hiccup, just a satisfying bounce!

Cons: Slow upload speeds when compared to other more expensive models, but not a deal killer

Other Thoughts: Use this hard drive everywhere, piece of mind that its spill proof. Had someone spill coffee at Starbucks, soaked the poor thing, no issues, very happy with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I actually liked the cable attached to the case. It would just get lost in my wire jungle. Worked as expected. As of this writing, prices haven't doubled because of the Thai flood.

Cons: None that I can see, but I haven't put it through the drunken revelry, three-year-old or angry dog test yet.

Other Thoughts: Would buy a 1g product made by them.

I plugged it into the usb port (fat32) on my Pioneer DVD player to play my music collection.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drives

Pros: Compact, Rugged, Reliable, USB cable stores on the side.

Cons: On one drive, I've had the data become corrupted. I formatted the disc after trying to read the data on 3 computers, and it is functioning properly. This is not bad for 4 drives over a period of over a year. Granted, they are only used 3 times per year each. Found them cheaper at another retailer :(. I love newegg though.

Other Thoughts: I have owned 4 of these for well over a year. I use them for server off-site backup. I make a backup once a month and transfer the disc off-site. I rotate them every 4 months. I've had very little trouble with them, considering the amount of data I deal with. I use ViceVersa software to automatically to a full backup of about 280-300 GB of corporate data.

1 out of 5 eggs2 dead within a week

Pros: Looks good, case seems sturdy. OK price.

Cons: I ordered two and both are have started erroring within a week of arrival. Yes, I know that harddrives are hit and miss, and I haven't had good luck with 2.5" external drives in general, but still. No more A-DATA for me.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far a great HD

Pros: Great construction, Thin and compact, water/shock proof, good led light, cord clicks into the side, super quiet, recognized by mac immediately

Cons: maybe a con is transfer rate...a bit slower, takes me over an hour to completely back-up my macbook pro. But definitely decent and not complaining

Other Thoughts: So far i received the HD and great packaging and shipping by NEWEGG. The HD is very sturdy and does not feel cheaply made.
My main concern was safety of the HD from bumps and drops and this case seems to be protecting just fine. My macbook pro recognized it immediately and i partitioned just fine.
It is very quiet, i cant really hear it at all. The blue LED is not too bright and encased inside and shows transfer blinks.
the cord clicks in snug and i was happy that the cord is separate from the case so no need to worry about replacing a cord in case it breaks, just a data normal cord.
the construction is rugged feeling and durable. The plug cap is decent and seems it will stay.
All in all, seems to be a great HD with sturdy and rugged construction and seems to be working fine. Very happy with it for 65 dollars.
