Many of today's popular SSDs are available in a 2.5" form factor. While this is ideal for upgrading notebook computers, many servers only accommodate the larger 3.5" form factor, making a 2.5" drive impossible to use.
Through extensive research and development, EDGE engineers designed a state-of-the are installation bracket for server applications. The EDGE SSD Upgrade Kit for Server converts a 2.5" SSD into a 3.5" SSD, making it possible to install into a server that only accepts 3.5" drives. Simply insert a 2.5" SSD into the PCB of the supplied installation bracket and secure with screws (included). When finished, the side and bottom mounting holes of the bracket line up perfectly with that of a 3.5" drive. The SATA connector of the bracket is offset to match the design specs of a standard 3.5" SATA connector, which is critical for a successful install.
The bracket is made from durable SPCC steel and comes in a sleek, black finish. Ventilation holes on the bottom of the bracket provide extra cooling to the drive. All needed mounting screws are included.
Terrible quality product
This review is from: EDGE Tech Boost Storage Bay Adapter EDGSD-229870-PE Black
Pros: I don't really see any real prods. I guess it's nice the 2.5" drive will sit in the middle of the 3.5" bay instead of the side like the other products.
Cons: The quality of the product is terrible. Many of the adapters don't have thread in the screw holes. Other products are also cheaper, most likely because because the 2.5" drive plug in directly to the back-plane instead of using a silly PCB adapter board.
Other Thoughts: We bought a lot of these adapters in order to build an SSD RAID arrays and experienced quite a few problems with this product. One would think EDGE would fix these quality issues after RMAs and complains (about a year ago), but last time we bought these adapters(a month ago) they we experienced the same quality issues so we decided to move on and bought higher quality and actually less expensive options.
