With the Fujitsu innovative four-platter harddisk drives, you can dramatically increase speedand efficiency, because fewer platters mean
higher data rates.
The Fujitsu enterprise hard disk drives were the industry's first 75Gb/square inch design to deliver 300GB of storage capacity in a 10K RPM 3.5-inch form factor. This makes them a perfect solution for today's demanding storage

1 out of 5 eggsWorn out

Pros: None

Cons: Ran for a few hours, then began to make
a sound like a playing card in a bicycle spoke.
All i/o to the device after that returned error.

Other Thoughts: I have a refurbished 73.5gb Fujitsu that was rebranded
as a "ModusLnk". Linux badblocks program found a couple
of hundred bad blocks on it when it was first installed,
but it has been running 24/7 for years with no problems.

Not so lucky this time. (I guess the attached hot-swap tray
should have been a clue about the extent of the

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Not much right now, see below... Although drive is quiet and no bad sectors...

Cons: Not working great so far. I am RMA the drive, see if the next one is better. Max transfer speed 8.1 to 9 mb/sec. Tried 2 different card, 2 different cables and different back planes...
I am thinking that maybe this is due to specialized firmware to a specific environment these HDDs were in. Maybe if I could flush it... Oh well I am trying an RMA 1st.

5 out of 5 eggsLow Cost - Ok Performance

Pros: * Obviously Cost. Comparatively around 35$ for one of these on sale to another one with similar specs new for 300$

* High Capacity (for the type)
* Decent Heat Dissipation
* Easy Recognizably
* Plug and Play operation

Cons: * Some unnecessary noise
* Age
*Interface Type

Other Thoughts: I only bought 3 of these drives off the bat to test out due to some mixed reviews. So far I've ran them over a week with mixed load with no problems. Installation was a snap; no unnecessary setup or recognition problems. I will be purchasing another 6 come the end of the week to fill the rest of the bays on a cheap storage server.

Overall I gave it 5 eggs. This takes into account that I totally knew I was buying a refurbished product and expected that quality. If this were a actual new product, I would only give it a 3 or 4 egg rating (closer to a 4).

Overall, I am satisfied with the product and will be buying more soon. Some reviews I've read around places have people get too hot because they order 10 drices and 2 dont work. I think of it more along the terms of... They are still cheap as can be. Even if you get 2 bad drives out of the batch, you are likewise getting 8 working for still less than the price for only one new one. And another note: Be smart and buy a spa

3 out of 5 eggs2 bad out of 7

Pros: Cheap... Cheap and cheap.. Very low cost for upgrading old servers with 36GB drives.

Cons: High failure rate? 2 out of the 7 drives we purchased are DOA. The Perc4 SCSI controller in our old Dell server won't recognize 2 of the drives. Curiously they are both of the same case style. See below.

Other Thoughts: Since this is refurb product, the age, case style, firmware revision, etc, will all vary. The 2 drives that I had are of what I would call the older case style - small fins around the edges. Since Toshiba took over Fujitsu's drive business in 09 it isn't easy to find updated firmware. But even if it's a firmware issue, the controller has to see the drive in order to upgrade it.
