4 out of 5 eggsslow storage at its finest

Pros: quiet operation, large capacity, easy install and setup.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: slower than the average hard drive, but that's due to its 5400rpm nature. I knew this when I bought it. it is just a media storage drive paired with a Samsung 850 pro for the operating system and games.

5 out of 5 eggscool and quiet

Pros: This drive does run cool and quit, as advertised

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I would not use this as a system disk, because performance is not good. It is appropriate for use where good performance is not required. I have two of these "green" drives. One is connected to a DVR. The other is in my main desktop for large data files and system backup (system disk is SSD). One reason I bought this is because I have found Western Digital drives to be very reliable for the last 15+ years.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I am using this to store my game collection. There have been no problems with bad sectors or hardware failure. The price on these now makes it even better.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: WD drives are very reliable in my experience. I have a dinosaur of a PC running downstairs that has a seven year old HDD from WD as my boot drive, and I still haven't lost a sector or had a general hardware failure. Very impressed with this company's products in general.

1 out of 5 eggsBad from start

Pros: Right size for intended use.

Cons: Could not initialize disk. Kept getting data error cyclic redundancy check. Tried jumpering as spec'ed on WD site, continued to get error. Tried on several computers with several different sata controllers. Found several bad reviews scattered across web. Wish I'd found them sooner.

Other Thoughts: Had good luck with EVERY other product bought from Newegg so this failure was a bit of a shock.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap.

Pros: Once IntelliPower was disabled the drive has given me no issues what's so ever. It has been my primary movie and steam drive for a little over a year now and I really have no complaints. It's not meant to be a 7200rpm Velociraptor drive. The speed is enough for me and the price makes it all the more enticing. Low noise, low heat, reliable and cheap.

Cons: Doesn't make me waffles in the morning.

1 out of 5 eggsDoA

Pros: Can't put any due to product shipping faulty.

Cons: Hard drive arrived dead. Once it powers up it has a very loud clicking sound for a few seconds then shuts down and cannot get the bios to even recognize the disk

5 out of 5 eggsgood backup drive

Pros: extremely low cost.
reliability.

Cons: 5400 RPM drive speed.

Other Thoughts: pretty good drive - used this for storage for render nodes. each node has a 1tb at this cost it's a feasible and worthwhile option.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Drive

Pros: This drive is cheap. It generally works. It usually lasts as least through it's warranty period.

Cons: Having said that, this is the only drive I have had that failed while in service. Fortunately it was part of a RAID and the new one I just bought plugged in and synced just fine.

This is not a performance drive. 6.0Gb/s is imaginary.

Other Thoughts: There isn't a single drive made today that I would store archival information. Having said THAT, if you need a cheap non-performance level drive for an in-machine RAID, this works. Just keep the drives cool.
