1 out of 5 eggsBAD

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Fails
Slow

Other Thoughts: I bought this hard drive for a home server build. After about a year the hard drive crashed and I was unable to retrieve my DATA . I wouldn't recommend this hard drive if you plan to store important things on it. Buy the NAS series.

2 out of 5 eggsupdate

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: was a great price for 1TB drive

Cons: received my drive and like some others have said about shipping, i opened the box and found my drive loosely packed in a few sheets of bubble wrap, after taking the drive out of the box, i plugged it into my system and it was not detected, unplugged it and could here something rattle around inside the drive.....

Other Thoughts: I give kudos to newegg for having great deals and awesome components.

I wish I could say this is the first time UPS brought me a broken component, switching to FedEx from now on.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply the best

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: WD is the best. I buy only in new condition and works like it should.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I depend on WD for more than 15 years and they are still reliable. Not one failed on me yet. Not even my Pentium iii computer which i still own all this time with a WD harddrive in it and that's around 15 years with no failure.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I bought 4 of these for a raid-0 setup for the home server. All four arrived in perfect condition. Popped them into the external enclosure, set them up as a raid-0 with BTRFS. Over the course of most of a day, I moved all the data and cruft we had stored on 8 other smaller drives into the new raid. Once moved, pointed all the everyday applications to the new raid drive and we're in service. The old drives are now oulled and stored as a backup to the new raid drive. No problems and will report back in a few months with an update.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: Will be back to buy 4 more and add a mirror to my new raid setup.

3 out of 5 eggsNewegg's shipping FAIL

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Startup S.M.A.R.T. tests passed OK

Cons: Don't know if it will last long

Other Thoughts: In the last several months I've ordered three of these drives from Newegg, all shipped with ShopRunner 2-day service. The first two drives were packed in special air-filled packaging which fit tightly into the box.

The last drive was simply thrown into an oversized box and the only "padding" was a "GIVE AWESOME" holiday advertisement!

When FedEx dropped the package I my porch I could hear the drive go "clunk". If it lasts a month in service I'll be surprised.

5 out of 5 eggsReplaced an older 500 GB WD disk

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Price, performance, and past experience with WD drives.

Cons: Only time will tell.

Other Thoughts: I had to replace an older disk on my desktop, a 500 GB WD5000AAKX, which was showing signs of failing. I needed more space, and something that would perform up to the abilities of my new motherboard. I chose this based on size, features, and price.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy install

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: -Popped it in and partitioned it, took about an hour, good stuff.
-WD has True Image 2013 for free download on their site if you are cloning an existing hard drive, Its basically Acronis, same thing I used for my Intel SSD cloning. That took about 30 min

Cons: None yet will update accordingly

Other Thoughts: -Upgrade for my WD Blue 320GB HDD from 2009, it had a good long life and I didn't want to push it, I expect the same from this one.

-Asus Sabertooth 990FX Mobo
-AMD FX-8320 Vishera 8-Core 3.51 GHz(unclocked) Black Edition
-Corsair Vengence 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 RAM
-Thermaltake TPG-1200M 1200W PSU
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 Core 512 (old faithful)
-Intel 730 Series SSD 240GB, Windows 7 Ultimate
-WD Blue 1TB HDD, Storage/Steam
