4 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive, works well, lots of storage, good price, but...

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: As I said above;
- Great hard drive
- Easy to use
- Not too slow
- Great price
- Large size for the price

Cons: I think that this was just my situation, but for SOME odd reason, mine came with 1350 hours on it already.

I hadn't realized it at first, but now after looking at the "Powered-on-time" of my HDs, my SSD has 354 hours, while this HD has 1704 hours. Multiple different programs gives me the same report.
Sketchy that I got a "New hard drive" with 1350 hours on it...
It's been a few months since I got it. If I noticed it, I would have sent it back immediately, but I don't think they'll exchange it for me now.

Other Thoughts: It's a good hard drive. Even after the few months I've put it through, it still hasn't failed.

But as I said above, mine came with 1350 hours on it for whatever reason. 1704 hours = 71 days.

I don't think that I've had my computer on for 71 days in the 5 months I've had it, especially because my SSD has only been on for 15 days (which has my WINDOWS BOOT on it... so... y'know...)

I was planning on giving it three eggs because of the one I have received. But since it has no issues, as of yet, I will give it four eggs. Five, if I had 0 hours on it.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: Shipping was super fast. Western Digital is always a good company to fall back on when buying mechanical drives. Using this for my first gaming build. I snagged it for $54 while it was on sale.

Cons: I should have bought three?

5 out of 5 eggsGood Hard Drive

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: No Problems yet. CP runs 24/7. Going to buy a second on for my second Build !

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Had to exchange it for another because the computer wouldn't recognize the hard drive. But this is only because I believe I did something do to this was my first Build ! This one I believe I Knew the mistake and corrected it. But runs like a champ ! Would Recommend to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsFits the bill and outperforms a 1TB Black

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: -Very affordable.
-Good GB to $ value. WD drives are fairly reliable, certainly more reliable than Seagates on average.
-The WD Blue drives use 1TB sized platters, so the platter density actually allows the 7200rpm 1TB Blue to outperform the 7200rpm 1TB Black, which uses 800GB platters. (Benchmarks have proven several times)

Cons: -The higher capacity (2TB+) Blue drives are now the new Green drives and only provide 5400rpm so if you want high performance from 2TB+ sized drives then you need to go with Black, not Blue.
-Lower warranty than Black drives, not really a con but something to consider.

Other Thoughts: -Purchased as a replacement drive for my cousin. Old drive started throwing SMART errors after 2.5 years. Can't recall what I replaced, but it was an older drive from another brand that had been re-purposed.
-If you need a 1TB reliable performance desktop hard drive for an amazing price, look no further. Pretty much a perfect solution for everyday desktop users and the majority of gamers.
-Works great as a storage drive too, if running an SSD as system drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget drive.

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: 1TB & 7200 rpm at an affordable price, relatively quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: A good budget drive, it's a bit quieter than the Toshiba drive of similar specs on my old system.

5 out of 5 eggsso far so good

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: this went in an older Htpc for movie storage runing on sata 2 at 130 mbs , it runs faster dan my Solite state drive , iam happy with it , got my 7200rpm, planing on buying a 2nd one for the price of a 2TB, for a dual boot, i have the space y not,

Cons: i sat on the decicion between 7200 rpm or 2TB at 5400rpm for 5 days, seem like a no branner now.
of couse order a week late of a 5 doller email discount ,lol.

Other Thoughts: replace a pair of WD 160gb sata 1 drives, sllllllllow. have had good luck with WD so y change, well price. have a 2 yaer old 2TB WD at 7200 rpm that i paid a lot more, he , rules,

5 out of 5 eggsWorking good so far!

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: -7200rpm and cheap, 64MB cache is nice too but 32MB is fine. Pure HDDs have pretty much hit their performance limit with these specs, barring those 10000rpm drives that are now obsolete thanks to SSDs.

-1TB per platter tech is great, less surface area to cover so faster reads and writes theoretically. Also more reliable.

Cons: None so far. Will update if failure occurs. Crystal Disk is showing no problems though.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend to others as of now. Just bought a second drive because my old Samsung Spinpoint finally is dying. Those things were nearly bullet proof but nothing lasts forever.

One thing I want to say to WD is please make these Blues available in 7200rpm above 1TB. Your blacks are a bit pricey for us plebs.

4 out of 5 eggsworked out of the box

This review is from: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: -good speed
-good price for a TB

Cons: -not a SSD

Other Thoughts: it worked out of the box, unlike my laptop 2.5 black series. seems like QC isn't as good on the blacks for some reason. I'm using this for storage and running my OS on a SSD. speed is fine.
