1 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: The drive was well packaged. Arrived fairly fast.

Cons: dead on arrival! Would not initialize. Cyclic redundancy error. Returned via RMA to NEWEGG but they insisted I pay to return their defective item! They should pay for DOA items not the customer. Now my friend must wait 1-2 weeks for the RMA process.

Other Thoughts: Newegg has been a good source for me. This experience
leaves a bad taste behind.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA & the end of Newegg purchases

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Previously I had good luck with Western Digital and Newegg...

Cons: DOA. When I asked why I had to pay for shipment back on a DOA, crickets.

Other Thoughts: Previously I had good luck with Western Digital and Newegg... Not this time!
The drive was recognized but could not be partitioned, named, formated.. = DOA
As I understood the RMA wording it's now up to the purchaser to arrange delivery back to Newegg on a defective item. I sent an email and received the automated email that someone would contact me within 12 hours.. Three days ago.

I'll cut my losses and sent the drive back directly to WD..
However after many years of great customer service with newegg, it appears corporate policy and the bottom line have presided over customer service. I won't be back!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected.

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Fast Data Speeds, Lots of room (compared to what I had been using).

Cons: Not as fast as SDD... but I didn't exactly need it to be THAT fast.

Other Thoughts: Old components were giving BSOD. Narrowed it down to CPU, MB, or RAM... so replaced all 3, along with HD and OS. (XP kept nagging me about it being unsupported.)
No more BSOD, and even simple tasks like browsing the internet are insanely smooth now.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive....and fast!

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Hard to beat on cost and speed. Benchmarks great under Crystal Diskmark, blowing away mechanical disk drives from other manufacturers.

Cons: Not the quietest drive out there.

Other Thoughts: The oldest WD Blue in my system is approaching its first anniversary. Here's to hoping that it continues to perform as reliably as it has over the course of the last year.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a hard drive

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: 1 TB, 7200 RPM, etc. I don't need to list all of the specs, they are on the page above these reviews...

Works as it should. Plugged it in, partitioned into 2 different partitions, one for windows and one for storage. So far so good. My old Windows drive had 500+ bad sectors (lol).

Prices seem to just keep going down for storage and I'm now at 3TB in my rig and will always need more.

Cons: None, other than it's not an SSD but... duh.

Other Thoughts: I'm always tempted to buy 2TB plus drives, even a 4TB drive, but the thought of a drive that big failing on me sort of scares me since I have yet to have the redundancy to backup my current storage.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Hard Drive

This review is from: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I've personally bought four of these and have used them in an editing/gaming machine to

One of the best GB/$ storage solutions
Good transfer speeds and IOPS for an HDD, especially at the $50 price point.

I would recommend this hard drive for most applications, and I do for my clients.

If you're building just a general use desktop, this hard drive would be perfect. It's fast and reliable, keeps the price low, and offers more storage than you'll most likely ever need.

If you're building a gaming rig, this offers plenty of storage and speed, and allows you to spend your budget where it matters (GPU/CPU). One drive would also suffice for recording gameplay (if you're into that sort of thing), however I always recommend using a dedicated drive.

Amateur->Prosumer video editors would also find great value in this drive. So far I've been happy with the sequential R/W, it's been more than enough for 30 fps 1080p video recorded at 50mbps. However I imagine a single drive alone would struggle with uncompressed 4k video (although, if you're working with uncompressed 4k video and are looking at buying this hard drive, you're probably going to be using proxy files for editing anyway, making this a moot point). It would also be great for a budget RAID array if you really need that extra performance without shelling out for an SSD.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: It's a jack of all trades sort of hard drive.
