4 out of 5 eggsDecent and good value.

This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: - Large storage space.
- Good value.
- Still working after a year of intensive use.

Cons: - Died after a couple of weeks.

Other Thoughts: For this price, a 2TB HDD is a good buy. I've owned it for more than a year now, and no issue worth mentioning.

However, my first purchase died after a few weeks of light usage. They gave me a replacement, but not before I lost many precious GBs of data. Overall, it's well worth it IF you don't get a faulty one.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap Reliable Hard Drive

This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: - I mainly use this for Video/Image (Media) storage
- Brought 2 of them, both still work perfectly on extreme light use
- Very cheap at the time before discounting the Green Drive
- Energy efficient compare to Black Drive

Cons: - Not recommended for Gaming or heavy use
- Not really a con, but feature of the Green Drive which go to sleep a lot when not in use, so spinning the drive every time cost a slow down
- An Expensive drive selling by third party seller since WD dont carry or make Green Drive anymore

Other Thoughts: - WD now change all Green Drive to Blue Drive and may or may not have get rid of IntelliPower feature in their new Drive, but if you look closely on the WD website, all Green that converted into Blue Drive have 5400 RPM instead of IntelliPower. Please research before purchasing because WD Blue will have 7200 RPM AND 5400 RPM where 5.4k RPM are more like WD Green and 7400 RPM are for causal user then for storage

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Good, cheap, power-saving drive. Works well in my RAID setup with 2 other drives of the same model.

Cons: One drive soon started having trouble, failed the SMART check soon after and destroyed my RAID. Unfortunately, Newegg's warranty had expired. Thankfully, WD's RMA policy was a little complicated, but not too bad.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat hard drive with tons of space

This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: 2 TB is a ton of space. I've never come close to filling this hard drive and it is definitely durable after moving it through multiple builds and formatting it a countless amount of times with different operating systems.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: great all around hard drive

5 out of 5 eggsExpect the best

This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Quiet & Cool
It's Western Digital... Need I say more? (No!)

Cons: except that they cost a little more, none

Other Thoughts: I have used W/D drives for over 20 years. I just retired two IDE 40Gb drives that are over 17 yrs. old that still work. I bought to replace the first and only drive that quit working properly on me. It sorta works but when installed on my new system it made everything real slow.

Anyway, installed the drives, did the necessary setup, and done.

The drives are totally silent, or at least more than the fans in my Corsair 450D. Temps are barely above ambient room temp, averaging 22 - 25 C.. (fall weather, system is against ext. wall)

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't last

This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Energy saver drive. Wasn't DOA.

Cons: Only lasted 20 months. Now I know why WD only gave it a 1 year warranty.

Other Thoughts: WD's quality seems to have slipped badly in the past few years. My older WD drives would last 7-10 years. I'm switching over to Toshiba, don't know about the quality, but at least I get a 3 year warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsKnock Knock, who's there?

This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: None

Cons: I've had a few Green's for several years and pretty much haven't had issues(1/5 has ended up with bad sectors over 10 year period).

This drive started making knocking sounds(the sound of the arm unlatching?) repeatedly when I first powered it up. I'll have to RMA unless WD can explain to me why the noise is normal?
