1 out of 5 eggsRefurbished Junk

Pros: Cheap... Thats it

Cons: Bought it in February has only been used lightly in a system that doesnt see much use, just died last week, drive not recognized by the system. Tried it in an external dock as well, it won't spin up, just makes a grinding and clunking sound.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive 2/19/2015 and the manufacture date on the sticker on the drive shows 25 July 2010!!! They sold me a five year old refurb?? I have had some good luck with refurbished products, but they were all generally within a year of manufacture, customer returns, small manufacturing defects that were fixed, etc. But when i installed this drive i didn't realize i was getting a five year old piece of hardware to begin with.

Of course they won't do anything to replace it since it was a refurb and now i have to buy another new drive, so overall there was no savings here.

I will say that i generally use WD drives, Black or Green, or the Red's in my NAS and server, and i have yet to have a failure of a new drive, but this refurb was a gamble that just didn't pay to make.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price

Cons: Reliability

Other Thoughts: Bought two. Both died within 6 weeks of each other, the first less than a year old, the second a week over.

1 out of 5 eggsToo many failures

Pros: They perform well when they work

Cons: I bought 5 of these and 3 failed within the first 3 months. Just waiting for the others to go.

1 out of 5 eggsStone dead hard drive

Pros: well if it worked, the price was nice.

Cons: The hard drive is not even functional

Other Thoughts: It was a refurbished HD. i would have maybe expected a few problems but not a complete paperweight.

1 out of 5 eggsD.O.A.

Pros: Looks new. Package wasn't battered.

Cons: Nothing but the death click. Blew fifty dollars on the drive. Western Digital and/or Newegg quality control failed here. The computer doesn't even recognize a device has been plugged in.

Other Thoughts: I made the mistake of not opening this package and trying it out before giving it to my brother as a extra something for Christmas. Since my brother didn't make it home this year again I didn't find out that this stocking stuffer was a lump of coal that should have been stuffed back into Newegg's sock.. Distractions sank me. By the time I got around to opening the package and running the drive the 90 day warranty had expired.

2 out of 5 eggsGreen Power

Pros: very low cost per TB

Cons: my read speeds are consistently 2/3 of write.

Other Thoughts: I had no idea that WDC made GreenPower RE4 drives. I probably would have passed if I had known.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive is no good

Pros: Cost

Cons: Bought this as a backup drive. Not a good drive, slow and only worked the first 2 times I used it. After that, it needed to be reformatted every time to access it meaning I lost all data on it. Even data recovery programs would not extract it. Have to buy a new one now. Thanks.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth keeping

Pros: It was cheap, when I thought it would work.

Cons: In less than one week of use, getting bad, repeated clicking and spinning noise. Hangs up in the middle of tasks. Shows almost 30,000 hours on this drive. My other main drive, an old 500gb model from 2012, has under 2,000.

Other Thoughts: I'm appalled that this was sold as "refurbished." I've bought a number of other refurbished products in the past from other manufacturers and sellers, and never have I been this disappointed. This is just a heavily, heavily used drive that isn't worth keeping in my machine. I'll be purchasing a replacement from somewhere else.

2 out of 5 eggsWritten between freezes

Pros: Was a good deal on a 2tb drive

Cons: Pending sector count became an issue quickly (3 Months). Some days it works fine, some days it will lock up the computer over and over for 2 secs after click & spin noise. Corrupted files have been popping up.

Other Thoughts: Download SpeedFan or a S.M.A.R.T. hdd monitor utility. Check the Current Pending Sector Count when you get it, and monitor it closely before your warranty runs out.. Risky refurb. Good luck.
