5 out of 5 eggsGood price, capacity and performance!

This review is from: WD Black 750GB Performance Mobile Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 2.5 Inch - WD7500BPKX

Pros: Cheap, good performance spindle disk. Gotta love when you have two of these in RAID 0 for your games/storage in an Alienware 18 R1.

Cons: None at all! Too bad the original one in my Alienware 18 died forcing me to purchase this one, since the laptop isn't under warranty any longer and it was an "OEM" drive, I couldn't replace it via the WD Support site :(

Other Thoughts: Been using WD drives for a very long time, very rarely do they fail me so I order them for my Data-center environments as well.

3 out of 5 eggsWD BLACK SERIES WD7500BPKX 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache

This review is from: WD Black 750GB Performance Mobile Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 2.5 Inch - WD7500BPKX

Pros: Low Cost, WD Black, upgrade from a 500GB in my laptop

Cons: Noisy, Performance, small cache

Other Thoughts: II had a HGST 500GB with 32 MB cache in my Lenovo Thinkpad E530. It totally died just under 2 years. I needed a replacement ASAP and wanted reliability above all, so I choose the WD Black. The 750GB is a nice increase over my original 500GB, I really would have like 1TB but didnt see a WD 1TB notebook at that time. I used the same benchmark utility on this that was used on my HGST. The HGST had well over 100MB transfer rate while this is averaging around 80MB, plus its noisy. I never hear a pep from my HGST drive, but I can hear this, not that its loud and screaming but it sounds kind of like a loud fan. In fact my fan in this system is quieter than the drive. The performance doesn't really affect me as I'm not playing games but I'd like it quite, it worries me hearing this noise and wondering why, will it fail? If it lasts the 5 years I'll love it, if it fails in 2 or 3 I'll be very upset. Hope this lasts.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

This review is from: WD Black 750GB Performance Mobile Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 2.5 Inch - WD7500BPKX

Pros: Great 750 GB hard drive by Western Digital! Drive spins at 7200 rpm and is an excellent upgrade from the 160 GB drive that came with my Toshiba laptop over seven years ago.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This review is an update from my previous review where I ran into problems with cloning the drive with the Acronis True Image WD Edition software. The problem was rectified by plugging the power cable into the Apricorn DriveWire device that I had attached between the laptop and this new drive. Once I did that, the OS recognized the drive properly and the Acronis True Image software was able to successfully clone the entire drive to this new drive. After successfully cloning the drive, I shut down the computer, removed the laptop battery, removed the old hard drive, installed the new hard drive and my laptop boots faster and the new drive runs smooth and quiet. One thing that I did notice: When I open my Google Chrome browser, my home page and other pages that were set to open when I fire it up are no longer there. Also, all of my browser extensions in Chrome had to be reinstalled. I don't know what the problem was, but it was easily rectified as well, so I am very happy with this drive and its downloadable software! I highly recommend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade their existing hard drive in a laptop computer! Kudos to both NewEgg and Western Digital!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little drive but WD's downloadable software has proprietary limitations

This review is from: WD Black 750GB Performance Mobile Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 2.5 Inch - WD7500BPKX

Pros: Product arrived in excellent condition and in superior packaging. Seems like a perfect upgrade from an older 160 GB hard drive that originally came with my Toshiba laptop in 2008.

Cons: WD Acronis True Image software for cloning the data from my non-WD hard drive to the new WD hard drive is useless as I have to have the new WD hard drive installed in the laptop in order to do anything. This means that I have to install Windows, then install the WD software, but then I might as well just back up all the data manually, remove my existing hard drive from the laptop, install the new WD hard drive into the laptop, run my restore DVDs, update Windows, reinstall all of my existing programs, restore my data from the backup media used and .....well, you know the rest of the story.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive because of its advertised faster performance capabilities and because of the increased storage space. I originally attempted to clone the drive using an Apricorn DriveWire device and EZ-Gig software, but the software got stuck after I chose my original hard drive as the source drive and went to a black screen. I thought that the WD Edition of the Acronis True Image software might help circumvent this problem, but I am unable to install the software on my non-WD hard drive because (of course) it requires at least one WD hard drive to be installed on the computer. No eggs deducted for this issue because I purchased the drive from NewEgg and it appears to be perfectly functional. I just wanted others to be aware that the downloadable cloning software from WD's site will only work if you have a WD hard drive installed in your system.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Notebook Upgrade!

This review is from: WD Black 750GB Performance Mobile Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 2.5 Inch - WD7500BPKX

Pros: Bought this for a costumer of mine that was looking for an upgrade for her notebook computer.

These are a few things I like about this product:
-Quiet operation.
-High-Quality construction and components.
-Definite improvement if you're upgrading from a 5,400 rpm drive.

Cons: I don't have anything bad to say yet about this product.

Other Thoughts: Newegg did a great job packaging this product! Not a scratch in the mail.

This review is from: WD Black 750GB Performance Mobile Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 2.5 Inch - WD7500BPKX

Pros: looked good, felt good

Cons: Bought in Jan 2015 to replace a 5 year old Hitachi HDD (just in case) used for about one month sporadically. Was assigned overseas, back in country last month. WD drive did not boot up at all. WD has offered to replace but on my dollars for postage and special required packaging plus gas to UPS etc. etc. never mind my time to run their diagnostic programs at their request PRIOR to RMA issuance PAH to that.
Found a large hammer then bought another Hitachi HDD
WD you really need to revisit your return policy, use your own dollars to correct your own defects not consumer dollars, the competition is way better. You used to be good, not so more.
