1 out of 5 eggsDANGER, TIVO OWNERS!

Pros: The one I bought here in June '14 is still going strong, but the two I just got (Dec.'15) can't be seen by Windows or an S3, hence one egg where it would have been five if you'd asked me last year.

Cons: Windows, and therefore WinMFS can't see the drive, and using the jmfs v1.04 cd to copy seems to work, but the TiVo never boots.

Other Thoughts: newegg has no provision to let me post here as unitron, but that's how I'm known on TiVo-oriented sites.
As indicated, I used one of these last year-set it up with WinMFS-and it's still working fine, so I guess WD changed something in the interim. Others are reporting problems as well. Use a search engine on "unitron TiVo" and you should find the posts at TCF.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother excellent drive from WD

Pros: Stable, quiet, always reliable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have been using WD drives since I started building machines in the early 90's. I have never had one go belly-up. Some bad sectors here and there but no bricks....ever!
They make a quality product for a decent price. For those that have had issues they either got a bad batch or they aren't paying attention to proper handling and installation. I'm guessing the latter. This is the 2nd AV model I have put in a TIVO in the last 6 years and they work beautifully. Quiet, cool and never a complaint.

4 out of 5 eggsTIVO Installed

Pros: Simple cloning using ORICO cloning dock. Using in a ROMAIO OTA unit. Also using in TIVO 4 tuner cable unit. Both have been performing over six months with no issues. Removed both HD from both unnits and have stored in fireproof safe. Saves hassel of shipping units back to TIVO for replacement. No down time on recording.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggssilent, cool. great TiVo upgrade

Pros: replacement for TiVo HD model. easy swap in using on-line utilities. very quite - have to put your ear closer than 2 inches to tell it is spinning. barely warm under stress.

Cons: remember this is an AV drive, double check that you know what that means

4 out of 5 eggsSolid so far

Pros: Fast drive. I use it mainly for video and photo editing purposes. The drive can get copy speeds of up to 70-90mbps from a USB 3.0 external drive which is quite fast compared to my other SATA drive.

It works perfectly for video editing. I set-up my video cache on the drive and it flies.

Cons: It sometimes lags out and takes some time to view files. I had an odd bug that the drive would go to 100% load and crash... but that stopped

Other Thoughts: It did not come in a manufacturer package. It came in a newegg box and plastic wrapper and no info for warranty or any screws.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for DVR

Pros: A great replacement to a 6-yr-old 1TB WD green drive. I'm using this in a Tivo HD. Used winMFS software to copy everything from old drive to this one.

Copy was flawless and it's been recording away for over a week now.

Does exactly what I expected it to. Recommended.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: DOA. Started the clicking sound once power is turned on. So far I am batting 1.000 for WD bare drives as far as them working the first time.

Other Thoughts: If it were not for the price I would not bother but I include the cost of sending them to WD for replacement to the price of drive it would not be worth it. WD is always good about returns. You don't always receive the equivalent drive though but for purpose that is fine.
