3 out of 5 eggsPlenty of space, but slow and LOUD!

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: -Drive has plenty of space to tide me over for the next year or two.

-Got the drive at a decent price when it was on sale for $119.

-5 year warranty will hopefully mean that it lasts longer than the 2 year old Seagate this drive replaces. The Seagate was starting to fail, leaving me BSODed several times. Thankfully no data lost, but I should hope this drive lasts longer.

Cons: -The whole system is noticeably slower than the 1TB Seagate drive that this one replaced. From browsing the web, to loading levels in games and running virus scans, it all takes a longer time to load things from this drive.

-NOISY OPERATION! Everything this drive does gets done alongside loud clicks, buzzing, and rattle sounds. It sounds like drives I remember in the 1990s that used to make such noises. If one has to sleep in the same room as a system with this drive, best hope it doesn't decide to run a virus scan while idle. It WILL keep one awake with drive noise. It will buzz, click and make noise LOUDLY for as long as the drive is in action. Will spoil Netflix movies as well if the drive has to do any work while one watches.

Other Thoughts: I got this drive to replace an ailing Seagate that started to disconnect itself after only 2 years of operation. While I didn't lose any data, this new WD Drive will hopefully tide me over until I either go Solid State, or until I obtain an even larger system drive. Either way, the slow and noisy operation offset the higher capacity of my old drive.

1 out of 5 eggsLoud Out Of The Box..For 6 Months Plus

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: It works

Cons: It's Very Loud

Other Thoughts: Been running it for over 6 months now. Every time I access the drive, it starts making a loud "machine gun" noise. Drive works, but noise makes me less than confident it's not gonna "brick" suddenly (based on my 20 years of tech support experience).

Ran WD Diagnostics Tools, Did not indicate what was causing the noise.

I've bought multiple other WD Hard Drives, None are as noisy.

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive, clicks a lot

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: Fast and quite reliable so far. Big enough for my needs.

Cons: *Click* *click* *click* very clicky when its being used, so make sure to have rubber isolators on this or else it'll shake your whole case!

Other Thoughts: Nerp...

5 out of 5 eggsWD Black 2TB

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: - Inexpensive.
- 5 year warranty.
- Rather fast once accessed.
- WD reliability and stability.

Cons: - Rather loud when it kicks in (see Other Thoughts.)

Other Thoughts: - I use mine strictly to store data, record video to, and play media. I run my OS, programs, and games off SSD drives so the drive isn't being accessed during regular use. When accessing folders and browsing the drive it is quite loud and takes a moment to spin up.

- Recording video and watching media does not seem to cause as excessive of a noise as initially browsing the drive, so maybe use as a daily driver wouldn't be overly noisy. Once accessed the drive is quite fast and have no stutters or other issues when recording video to it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but loud

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: Works Great, easy installation

Cons: For some reason, mostly at start-up or shortly after, it is really loud and you can hear the mechanical components moving. It is the loudest part of my computer and is rather annoying.

Other Thoughts: Overall I would recommend this card to anyone. In my case I use it for storing all of my games on it and recorded videos (of gameplay). It is super annoying when it makes the loud noises, but other than that It's great.

2 out of 5 eggsDefective Out of the Box

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: I have used several WD products in my computers. This is the first major issue I've had.

Cons: The hard drive was defective and I have spent a month haggling with Western Digital's awful support service. It took them 24 hours to figure out the drive was defective and I still haven't seen a replacement.
