5 out of 5 eggsFASSSSST

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: fast as heck. end of story.

i judge my HDDs on how fast i can load into red orchestra 2 and pick a class.... usually im the first to load, unless someone has an SSD thats properly configured.

Cons: a bit noisy.... see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: noisy....but i love being able click on steam, hear CLICK CHUUUUNCH click click, and BOOM a second later steam is fully open. (and a good clicking noise, of cashing/read/write.... not your drive is bad click click)

i like whisper quite.... but i also like to hear what the pipes sound like on my 400 small block chevy when going threw and under pass/tunnel.

and thats basically what this drive is.... a 68 impala 2 door hot rod, with a big engine, yet civilized exhaust pipes. still loud when you floor it (when you load a program), but when your just cruising around town..... it quiets right down.

i really do like the noise this drive makes.... sound of preformance

1 out of 5 eggsWD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

This review is from: WD BLACK SERIES WD2003FZEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: NONE

Cons: Noisy from day one and died on the 6th month day. Now I have to go through the return process and then reload a drive.

Other Thoughts: Have had good service from WD drives but this is the second failure this year so It might be time to go elseware. SSD's are looking better all the time. They do not have a noise problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Gordon, it is unfortunate that you have experienced a drive failure. We understand your situation and will gladly replace your in-warranty drive, as we stand by our products and their associated warranties.

Customer Service
I know if this drive ever fails, I can send it back and chances are Ill get an upgrade.

Cons: This thing is LOUD, I mean crazy loud with odd beeps and boops and grinding sounds even when functioning perfectly (seems to not just be my drive too).
They tend not to last very long for some reason so have a backup ready or be ready to lose everything.

Other Thoughts: WD support is by far the best Ive ever dealt with in my 10+ years of working on computers, hell its the best company Ive ever dealt with period (think of them as the Anti-ASUS).

Ive had two Black drives fail on me in the past 4 years, and so far both times WD gladly accepted them free of charge for an RMA, and both times they upgraded the HDD to a higher capacity model.

I had a 1 TB fail a few months back, and upon return from the RMA I had a brand new 2TB drive. It really takes the sting out of the whole RMA process when you get a free upgrade.

This was also the case when my 650 failed. I was sent a 1TB drive, (the 1TB drive that failed was one I purchased for RAID to go with this one)

Im not crazy about the drives failure rate with me but atleast I know if I do encounter a problem, it will not only be easy to arrange an RMA but chances are I will receive some sort of compensation for my trouble.

I will never buy a HDD from another company again.
