Pros: - Great idea

Cons: - Slow transfer speed
- Bandwidth hog
- Unreliable
- Data disappears from time-to-time
- Awful customer service
- Clunky software
- Terrible streaming, if it connected at all via mobile app

Other Thoughts: I bought this loving the idea of a simple solution of being able to access all of my files/media from wherever. However, I have had nothing but problems with it. Whenever I would contact customer service, it was always my hardware's fault, (I've used 3 different routers, 2 PC's, 1 laptop, 3 high speed internet connections) and had same results no matter where.
Data transfer is is exruciatingly slow. Even a direct connection to the PC is still slow. Trying to connect to the hard drive through the mobile app was a joke. Most of the time it wouldn't even connect, and when it did, it was too slow to do anything with the media.
Now my latest issue is that files and folders will randomly disappear. The space used/free doesn't change. And then sometimes the folders will just show up again. Sometimes, it will say the folder is empty, even though the space used is the same as it was full.
I have purchased several Western Digital hard drives through the years, but after this, I am done with them. I currently work in a location that sells these, and I make sure that customers do not buy especially the MyCloud drives.
My regret was waiting too long after the return period, hoping that I could just get it to work, but no improvements to quality, and issues are getting worse.

Pros: Was very simple to setup. I have multiple computers and mobile devices using it. Remote access from my iPad is very fast. Using a static IP to avoid any future problems.

Pros: High capacity, affordable, looks nice. Customer support patient, but ultimately couldn't help with media format issues.

Cons: Temperamental regarding usable media formats (hard to tell what wouldn't play until you actually tried to play it). Unintuitive interface awkward to use (no remaining space information). Need WD software to access wirelessly. Didn't care for having to use the password every time to access the drive from my PC.

Other Thoughts: Last software update vastly improved file transfer stability, but it bricked (solid white LED) the next time I powered down.
I've usually seen warning signs of impending drive failure, but not with this one. Lost about 3Tb of data that took months to find. Tired of struggling with this product.

To address the concern with the drive not being responsive, we advise performing a physical System Restore of the drive by unplugging power and Ethernet cables from the drive, pressing the reset button and holding it while plugging in the power only, and ensuring the reset button stays pressed for no less than 40 seconds. After about 5 minutes you will then need to connect the Ethernet and try to access the drive with your computer.

Pros: No actual errors yet.

Cons: 1.4MB/sec sustained transfer rate is unacceptable. This is on a gigabit network. I've tried using the same cable and port used to another computer with no improvement. I'm running the latest firmware too.

Other Thoughts: You'd be better off by far with a USB3 drive.

Cons: Bought one of these to replace my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Home Network Storage System - 2TB, but had to return it because the media server Twonky won't stream MKV movies to my Samsung products like the Seagate would.

Pros: None. Device did not function as promised.

Cons: Constantly dropped off of network despite many calls and suggestions by WD tech support. Would only be "seen" on the network after a full reboot of device, and then only for a couple of hours.

Other Thoughts: To be fair, WD tech support was courteous and patient, and tried their best to walk me through several suggestions to rectify the problem. Also, after a week of "negotiations," Western Digital agreed to a full refund of the device since I was passed the return time for Newegg.

Cons: It worked for a bit then death - the reset won't work - absolute junk. I should have paid more attention to all the bad reviews saying that their quality sucks!

Although we understand you performed a reset on the device, it is important to try performing a System Restore of the unit if you have not already done so. You will need to unplug both the power and Ethernet cable, then press and hold the reset button while plugging power back into the drive. The reset button will need to be held in for no less than 40 seconds while the drive powers back on before releasing it. After 2 minutes you will then plug the Ethernet cable back into the drive and connect to your router. Please visit the link below for further assistance with this procedure.

Pros: looks good. Static IP helped to make sure it won't get lost.
Disabled sleep mode worked.
Port forwarding worked, but way to slow to view images or video remotely
Nice interface
That is it

Cons: The main issue is that is way too slow. Took over 6 hours to transfer 12 GB of picture data. Speed showed 387KB/Second.
Accessing at home or remotely to browse images takes forever to go from one picture to the next. Each picture around 2MB.
Also my windows image viewer freezes when moving from the picture to the next.

Other Thoughts: I still have high hopes and will give another week.
I will try to contact WD on Monday to see if there is something that can be done.
It says I have the latest firmware and software version.

If for some reason you are not experiencing optimal performance with the My Cloud within the LAN, we recommend connecting your computer and My Cloud both directly to the same router by Ethernet, and disabling your wireless interface. This will remove the possibility of the wireless connection causing a performance bottleneck, and provide you with the best bandwidth available for large data transfers.
