3 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: WD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive

Pros: Good stable server drive, Used it in a raid 5 in an old w server 2003. When it works.

Cons: I purchased 3 for a critical server issue and one came doa making me have to re-image the server again, lost a whole day of labor because of quality control. This issue cost me $100's! I should have ordered 4 just incase but I have not had a DOA drive in years, I just didn't expect it.

Other Thoughts: Newegg took care of me in rapid fashion as per usual. No issue with newegg, just the product.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

This review is from: WD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive

Pros: Cost, size, and Cache

Cons: not SSD?

Other Thoughts: I have always had good luck with WD and these are great. Super fast for the size, and I set them up in a RAID 1 configuration for a workstation/server at a pharmacy. They are performing quite nicely and faster than I ever expected.

1 out of 5 eggsShort stroked & already smoked

This review is from: WD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive

Pros: Good while it lasted...

Cons: I don't enjoy writing negative feedback on things, but the negligence from Western Digital is unacceptable on every level.

This drives was supposedly "tested" at the factory as it's one of their data center drives; however, one week and it's dropping blocks, hanging up, and wasting my time.

It can't pass their own lifeguard tool nor the check disk utility after posting.

4 out of 5 eggsShort Stroked and still a bit slower.

This review is from: WD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive

Pros: Cloned my WD VelociRaptor 300GB into a short stroked partition using the cloning software... provided by Acronis.
It's viable stor. . . .age you just have to wait a little longer than expected, even with its 128MB cache.
As other have stated, the 5 year warranty is good incentive and I see no faults.

Cons: It's not near an SSD, we're all adults and knew this beforehand... SSD's do spoil us a bit though.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive for a NAS

This review is from: WD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive

Pros: This Hard Drive was purchased as an upgrade to the WD Black 500 GB Hard Drive that I had in my Zyxel NSA-310 . I find that it is much faster and quieter than the drive it replaced. I looked at the other models that are specifically for NAS use as this one is and decided to stay with the "Black Series"

Cons: None - Wish I had purchased it sooner.

Other Thoughts: I have always used Western Digital Hard Drives in all of my builds, be it be for personal use or for professional use and they have never let me down. In fact, I can honestly say that I have replaced western digital hard drives only to upgrade to a larger capacity and have given the old hard drives to friends and family when their hard drives may have failed and those hard drives out lasted their PC's.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth every penny...

This review is from: WD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive

Pros: It's a server drive with a five year warranty...rather than the two or three year warranties you get with the consumer quality drives. In the month I've owned it for my desktop...have had no issues at all. It's quiet...quick and does exactly what I need it to...hold my data and not blow up like others drives in the past in the first month or so.

Cons: Being enterprise quality...it is pricey...but having been burned in the past with drives going back within the warranty period...I paid the cost to try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Other Thoughts: Desktop...HTPC or for use in the enterprise...this drive seems to be doing exactly what it needs to be doing.

4 out of 5 eggsWD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB

This review is from: WD Se WD1002F9YZ 1TB 7200 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Hard Drive

Pros: One worked out of two

Cons: One was DOA and cost me $10.00 to send back w/RMA number. How ever, I did use newegg's shipping to do it at a savings...Thank you Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I have ALWAYS use WD drives. I feel their quality is slowly dying. There are getting to many different styles and quality control is going down. SIMPLIFY, QUALIFY, NEVER DIE.
