Cons: The device was incapable of telling me one of the hard drives that were in the unit was bad. The dashboard gave me green lights across the board and said everything was great. I rebooted the device and it suddenly lost 6TB worth of data I had copied to it. Luckily I had the original copy of my data and didn't suffer any losses.

After calling Drobo tech support I was told to send in my logs, at which point I did. Three days later I got a call back stating the log files were incomplete and I would need to send two logs this time (apparently sometimes their software needs to be run twice to complete its task..). I complied and ran the logs twice and emailed them. 2 days later I received a call to ask me the status of my problem.... I stated it was still not fixed because I hadn't spoken to anyone since I sent my logs in. At this point I removed the drives and ran some diagnostics on them only to find out that 1 of the 4TB HD's I had purchased was bad and throwing all sorts of fun SMART errors, not to mention the failed checksums of read/writes.

I then called newegg and let more fun begin. Initially newegg wanted me to pay the shipping to return the DOA HD and the Drobo which was also working improperly. After calling them twice and working my way through various operations I was refunded my shipping. Although upon arrival of my RMA I was informed I had scratched the sata connector on the HD and would be unable to return the HD, instead I need to contact Seagate to work something out.
